My KnitPicks order is on its way! w00t!
I got over my knitting ennui by asking
the_original1 if he'd rather I make him socks or a scarf. He suggested instead that Thing Two (and probably Thing One, and Little Cat Z, too) would like a pair of handknit socks. So I found the really bright yellow Lion Brand Wool-Ease, worsted, that I snicked from my mom's stash, and asked Thing Two what he'd think of bright yellow socks. He thought they'd be great. So did Thing One, but I don't have enough for two pair. I still have the KnitPicks Dancing that
stacye13 gave me (elastic, she doesn't like it), and I thought I'd make Thing One a pair with that. Not as warm, but the riot of color should appeal to her.
With my yarn from KnitPicks, I intend to make
a Shetland Shorty, a pair of legwarmers from some book, but I have the pattern in an issue of some magazine or other, and I'm going to try to rework my feathered arrow lace vest (my own design: armholes are too big, shoulder straps too wideset, needs a better edging).
I might actually feel a little excited about knitting again.
In the new
Knitty, the first three patterns I looked at were from big name designers: A Little Bird, Tushy Cushy (for the baby pictures, mostly), and Surface. I also really like Amelia and Amused, and the baby mittens, and Therapi.
