samsausage posted his entry for the second week of LJ Idol. Of course, I had to look back two pages on my friends page to find it. That's not why I'm writing this. I just wanted to share part of the comment I left on it.

Hmmm, no offense to your friend, but country music and religion don't compel me to do much of anything but roll my eyes. ;)

I almost deleted your comment instead of deleting the message thingy.

His entry is about his apathy towards religion. I'm the one who supplied the country music.

The song is about the hypocrisy of the "country music family," and considering the way people act about Christianity, yet they think their religious beliefs are perfectly okay, it seemed fitting

Knowing the song doesn't mean you understand it, though. I wouldn't guess that you would take the time to listen to a country song to find out that it actually has a meaning.;-P

I don't do that with any songs. It drives my hubby nuts. He is one of those people who is compelled to find "meaning" in every song and has to dissect it into little pieces. That takes the enjoyment out of it for me. I don't feel the need to pick things apart in order to enjoy them. I don't have to "understand" the song. I hear it, I like it or I don't like it. Period. I don't have to know why, how, whowhatwhenblahblahblah.
