Hello everyone, and happy holidays. This is probably the last thing you'd want to see on Christmas, but it's quite necessary, I'm afraid.
I'm sure you've noticed that things have slowed down. The holiday season doesn't help, and the addition of the recent problems with Livejournal has made this many times worse. As some of you may know, some roleplays are going to Dreamwidth, where as some are staying at LJ. Sorting Hat is struggling right now, so there is a good chance that we'll lose players making the switch, but an equal possibility that the obstacles with the current layout/general idling would make that happen anyway.
Some of the reasons we might decide to move include the issues with long threads being next to impossible to navigate, icon selection is difficult (especially for those with slow connections/many icons), people have problems viewing the layout without getting migraines, and general problems with some of livejournal's staff. Reasons to stay would be that we've always been here and invested a lot of time and money in being here for 6 years, people would have to navigate a whole new site, with new coding, and we're certain to lose players/past CR in the relocation.
We've also been considering, if we do end up making the switch to a community based game. We know we've mentioned this possibility before, and decided to stay the way things were, but there are a few reasons we're considering it again. Since SH has been on livejournal for such a long time, before community-based games were a thing, it would have been a hassle to change everything over. However, as a move to dreamwidth would require a lot of change in and of itself, right now would be the time to make such a change, if we were going to. Community-based games seem to be much more popular than journal-based ones in the current RP culture, and might make it easier to attract new members.
After much discussion, what we want to know is what you guys want to do. We want you to be honest with us, so please don't be shy and comment as well if you feel compelled to! Just know that what you decide will determine what we do.
Poll Sortinghat Changes
One of the other things the mod team has also discussed is, whether we move or not, if we should consider a setting change. Right now the setting is during the first Wizarding War, but it's been difficult to maintain such a plot since everyone is at school. What we were possibly thinking was keeping all of the relationships within the game the same, but moving the setting to after the Wizarding War. It would change some things, but it would be a fresher take on the setting in the Wizarding World.
PLEASE COMMENT. What you say and decide will determine the fate of the game.
