Thijs was run ragged as it were, but with the plants acting up as they had (and he still wasn't entirely sure why that had happened) and moving things, even throwing things, and even tipping their own pots and spilling soil everywhere. . . although he'd been working non-stop to get things in order, and had a few spells that helped, the classrooms were still pretty disorganized. Still, the students would only notice a few broken pots, some of the plants out of place, more dirt on the floors than normal, and definitely more dirt on Thijs than normal. He'd only just managed to get the books and tools organized again. ---------------------------------------------------------
Years 1-2: Will be working on a common herb quiz; the herbs are already laid out on several desks and they need to be able to identify them by sight and write the correct answers on their parchment.
All of the instructions are displayed at the front of the classroom; this is so Thijs can hole up in his office and get things done, but he's actually fallen asleep. If you have to ask him questions, you can bet he'll be grumpy.
Years 3-5: Will be given a short demonstration on how to check and recheck their equipment, such as gloves and tools and supplies. They will be required to perform a full check, and then after that there is reading to do.
Years 6-7: Will be given a demonstration on how to safely prune the Venemous Tentacula. And then they will be pruning them aggressively. Show no mercy.
Tsuna was not a clumsy person, but even he had some issues with the weighty, stiff gardening tools that they were required to use to trim and prune the many plants in the greenhouse classrooms. He was still feeling guilty over that mandrake's pot he had broken recently and so he was taking more care than usual.
"So this is used for..." He hefted the tool in his hands and frowned at it - it was an averruncator, long shears used to cut branches off trees. Its size already terrified him and he was almost certain he would accidentally swing them into something or someone (and perhaps cut them without meaning to).
Thijs had already told the students their tasks, and they had to check them off to him once they'd finished. He watched his students each for a moment before he caught sight of Tsuna holding the shears, and he approached.
Thijs leaned back, lifting his chin; he was tall, quite tall, so that was all he needed to do to avoid being grazed by the pruning shears. Still, he wasted no time in divesting Tsuna of what had now become a weapon in the kid's hands. His eye was on you now Tsuna; the clumsy ones were always dangerous.
He cleared his throat. "A good rule of thumb is that when you are dealing with large, dangerous tools, you'd want to keep them on the table unless you are actually using them."
"R-right..." Tsuna flushed in embarrassment as he let his hands drop. He wasn't clumsy per se - everything just seemed to go wrong when he tried to be cautious. At least that was how he thought of it.
"So those are for, um, pruning...?" As he pointed at the shears he struggled to remember exactly what they were used to prune.
And then he showed Tsuna how to check the shears; how to make sure the spring wasn't rusting and how to sharpen them should the tool ever need it. Once done with that, there was still a bit of class time left; Thijs decided that now would be a good time for the Hufflepuff to repair his mandrake pot.
After a moment, he came back with his hands full of pottery, setting it on the tabletop.
Tsuna nodded and watched carefully in silence, trying to commit all that Thijs was saying to memory. It wasn't like memorising spells, he told himself, so it should be easier, right?
Then the Herbology professor brought over the broken pot from the other day, and when asked about the mending charm Tsuna frowned and had to think hard about that.
"R...Repai...Reparo...?" he voiced uncertainly. It was something like the word 'repair', wasn't it?
ahhh, sob I knew I was missing something.vertulpenMarch 8 2011, 05:13:31 UTC
Thijs gave a curt nod, but nothing else.
"Yes, that's it. You should be fine from here. When you've finished that you can re-pot the mandrake; it's been unhappy in the new pot so it's got to be moved."
He would keep an eye on Tsuna, but he also had to watch the other students to make sure no other mishaps were in the making. He gave Tsuna a rather awkward pat on the shoulder.

Tsuna let out a breath in relief. If he knew the spell then there was a good chance nothing would go wrong - during the spellcasting process at least. Repotting the mandrake would be another story.
"Yes, professor," he chirped, before turning his attention to the shards and concentrating on them. "Reparo!"

When Thijs had asked for some extra help outside of class, Jade had pretty much jumped at the chance to assist in the greenhouses. She missed her atrium at home dearly; the greenhouses were as close of a replica as she could get while at Hogwarts. The plants and creatures that lived there were beautiful, and she loved talking to them as she worked.
Greenhouse gear in tow, she entered the first greenhouse. "Hello? Professor, are you here?"
He was there, he was sweeping up all of the soil left on the ground; Thijs did this each night, but after the plant fiasco there was a lot more. What he could re-use, he did, and he really didn't mind sweeping himself. Enchanting a broom seemed a little unnecessary, and he liked the scent of soil.
"In here!" He called, not entirely sure who it was. He couldn't memorize the voice of every kid in his classes, after all, but after this he'd be sure to remember Jade's. He did like a plant enthusiast, after all.
Jade grinned and walked toward the sound of his voice. She was pretty sure Thijs knew she was coming, though she could never really be certain. Jade watched him sweep for a little bit, waiting for a good moment to interrupt so she could get some instructions.
Thijs looked up from his sweeping, rubbing a bit at his forehead with the back of his hand.
"Hey. . ." He frowns and looks around; really, cleaning was what mostly needed to be done but he was sure the students wouldn't look forward to that. He nudged a nearby bucket with his toe.
"Once we get the soil up, we can re-pot a few things. If you prefer to be outside there are plants to pull in the gardening plots so the new ones can come in. There are also some broken pots to mend, but you might not know the charm..." He pauses while reaching for a the pan to sweep the soil into.

"How's it going?"

"Eek! S-sorry!" he gabbled as he almost hit his teacher's head. Sheepishly he lowered the shears so that they would be less of a danger to others.
