1. Your name: Cinnamon
2. Your age: 22
3. What makes you get up in the morning? The screaming of the alarm clock, my bird, a meowing cat, the dream-running of my dog who takes up more of the bed than I do, and the rising sun shining right into my bedroom window. Also, the prospect of a brand new day wakes me up pretty well.

Voldemort is so full of mystery that he's hard to ignore. I'm really intrigued at finding out what his weaknesses are - he has to have some sort of social weakness; where is his soft spot? Snape also really intrigues me. He's a very caring person, which doesn't mean he's necessarily angelic, but he is caring. He made a binding promise that could have cost him everything. So many times we see bad or mean characters as being totally heartless, but it's very obvious that Snape definitely has a heart, no matter how dark it is. I'm very interested in finding out what happens to and with Snape in the next book. As mean as he can be, he really doesn't seem like an evil person. He's done too many things that make me question where his true loyalties are. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that the next book will reveal that he has been involved in some master plan and really isn't evil.
6. What are your other passions/ fandoms excluding Harry Potter? I am very passionate about music and animals. I try to incorporate music into my life as much as possible through various music groups and organizations. I also thoroughly enjoy spending time with my growing zoo at home. My cockatiel Kauw (pronounced Cow) is currently helping my type - well actually trying to attack my fingers as I type. My other book passions include anything Jean Auel or Terry Goodkind related.
7. Who do you relate to most within the Harry Potter series? I would say that I relate to Neville Longbottom the most. He's a nerdy little guy that finds social interactions a little difficult. He doesn't consider himself very good at many things but put him in front of a plant and he is a genius. I also feel fairly socially inept and fairly nerdy at times. I would love to have the abilities to be the life of the party, but I find myself most comfortable working with animals or spending time on my teaching. Although I can't claim to have had the family experiences that Neville had, I suppose I relate most to him because he's a quiet guy that no one really pays attention to but when he gets the chance he really shines.
8. What is your favourite novel (ex. Harry Potter)? My absolute favorite novel is The Goblet of Fire. This was an excellent novel that I read in three days. This novel really seems to have matured from the earlier three novels but is still so fast paced that it is almost impossible to put down. In my opinion, Harry's character is at his high point in this novel.
For novels that aren't HP related, I would have a difficult time picking just one. Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel would probably be at the top of my list. Although I usually read fantasy/ science fiction I find this series very refreshing. I'm a big people person and I love watching and analyzing human behavior. I also thoroughly enjoy anthropology and learning about the development of humankind. Jean Auel really caters to these interests.
9. Would you run for prefect or Head Boy/ Girl if you were at Hogwarts?I would definitely run for prefect or Head Girl if I was at Hogwarts. I'm the kind of person that gets really aggitated if I have a good idea or if something is going right and I can't do anything about it. I also feel that as quiet as I am, I still feel like a leader. Maybe I'm not leader material, but I always love being in a leadership role. Most people, if under extreme pressure, would likely help themselves before they'd help someone else (think middle of the desert and only enough water for one person), it's just human nature and I'll include myself in this category. However, I still like to think of myself as a helpful and caring person. Yes, I would probably choose my own survival over that of my non-loved ones (again human nature) but normally I think I tend to give more than I take. All rambling aside, my need to be helpful is what would probably make me want to be prefect or Head Girl.
10. Who is your least favorite character - why?I despise Draco Malfoy. He's an arrogant, annoying little punk. His character is very well developed and flows nicely - that's not my qualm - I just really don't like Malfoy. He's one of those people that if something bad happened to him, everyone would cheer because he is just so mean. He's even a punk to his friends. I think my main issue with Malfor is his extreme arrogance and the fact that he can be unkind to his friends. I personally can't stand really arrogant people that think the planet was put there for them to rule and Malfoy seems like this kind of individual. I really liked the sixth book because finally Malfoy showed some weakness. He was forced to realize that maybe he isn't invincible; maybe he isn't as tough as he thought.
11. What do you consider the key qualities of the four Hogwarts houses? (Describe why you think this and elaborate!)
Slytherin is power hungry and powerful. Based on this, it may or may not be why they have produced so many people whose kindness and selflessness can be seriously questioned. This house seems to crave power and often it is difficult to obtain raw power without crushing some of those beneath you. Slytherin also seems very sneaky and sly - just like the snake that symbolizes the house.
Ravenclaw seems very intelligent. If I were the hat, I would probably have had a hard time trying to determine whether Hermione was Ravenclaw or Gryffindor material. Ravenclaw is like the "Harvard" or "Stanford" house and seems to be full of very intellectual and wise people.
Hufflepuff is very friendly and gentle. Hufflepuff people are very caring, hard working and would gladly provide a base to lean on. Hufflepuff's main qualities can be seen through Cedric. He was a nice guy, most everyone liked and admired him. He wasn't the best at everything or an absolute genius, but he was an honest, loyal person and people could sense that. The same can be said of Hufflepuff.
Gryffindor is bravery and courage; people from this house could stand up to anything and succeed. The people in this house could probably look at a mad dragon cross-eyed and still be fine because they have the strength of body and mind to withstand most things. Originally, I was confused about why Neville was a member of Gryffindor - he seems like a quiet and shy kid, Hufflepuff material maybe. However, as his past developed I realized how much he'd had to experience and live through. Most people couldn't come out of that and still be normal, but it was his courage and strength of mind that allowed him to survive and succeed. This, to me, exemplifies Gryffindor.
12. Where and how would you like to see yourself (job, country) in a few years time?I definitely see myself in the same country, although hopefully in a different part of my state; I'd love to be in a bigger city and have more trees and greenery around. I hope to graduate soon with my teaching certificate and teach Biology to high schoolers. I love life and the processes that surround and make up life. A lot of people, grade schoolers especially, find science very difficult and boring. I hope, in my practice, to change this attitude. Science can be very fun under the right teacher and it doesn't have to be hard. So many people have been conditioned into thinking that the processes of science are difficult and that the understanding of them should be left to "scientists." What most don't realize is that everyone is already a scientist in their own right. If you enter a room and the light switch doesn't work you use the scientific method to determine why (question - why doesn't the light work, hypothesis - the switch is broken, test - you flick the switch up and down repeatedly, conclusion - well that didn't work, hypothesis - the bulb is burnt out, etc). I hope to get my students to understand that they are already scientists and that Biology especially doesn't have to be any harder than they make it.
13. If you were a teacher at Hogwarts, which subject would you teach and why? (Extra thumbs up for original submissions - feel free to invent your own magical subject!)I would definitely want my teaching to surround the processes of and joy of life. Teaching a genetics class might be fun - perhaps Genetics of Magical Creatures. Just imagine what the DNA in a centaur would look like! What about the Thestral? What if we could determine the gene that allowed them to remain invisible? What if we could discover the genetics behind werewolves. We might be able to put Lupin through a course of gene therapy and cure him.
14. Would you be a Muggleborn (Mudblood?), Halfblood or Pureblood, based on your own personality? Give original reasons for this calculation excluding specific House Traits.I think I would be a Muggleborn because I personally don't know a whole lot about my parentage and therefore a lot of what makes up "me." Being Muggleborn would kind of fit this because I wouldn't know how or why I was not born a muggle, but I exist regardless. Also, my parent and I disagree on a lot and have different opinions, points of view and ways of living. This would also seem to fit with Muggleborn.
This was/is a very difficult question for me to answer. I think I chose muggleborn mainly because my parent and I have so little in common that we would have to be completely different. Also, I believe that I have a strong mind and I consider myself pretty strong willed, much like Hermione. Perhaps that's why I chose muggleborn.
15. What improvements would you follow through if you were Minister of Magic? I would definitely try to do something about Azkaban and the dementors. It doesn't take a fool to understand that those are dangerous. I would also try to come up with some sort of permanent story or cover up to tell muggles when they see magical goings on - altering memories constantly can't be very healthy. Perhaps this would fit under muggle relations somehow. It would be wonderful if magic users didn't always have to hide themselves from muggles. Perhaps if muggles didn't have to worry about themselves being at a disadvantage because magic users are at such an advantage, magic users wouldn't have to worry about hiding themselves. However, because some magic users feel they have to treat muggles harshly, all magic users must hide their identities to avoid being grouped along with the troublemakers. Finally I would dedicate more money to figuring out how to make travelling by fireplace less dusty.
16. What do you consider your most prominent qualities, either good or bad and why? My most prominent qualities (positive) include my caring for others and my organization. Like I mentioned before, in a lot of cases I feel like I'm a bigger giver than I am a taker. I constantly seem to be devoting my time trying to help and please others (which is usually good but can be bad). While my organization may not look like organization to everyone else, I really am organized. Perhaps not in the terms of neatness, but in other things. I rarely forget an appointment(as long as I remind myself a few times), I keep my days on a tight schedule, and I always try to help others remember where they need to be and what's going on. Other qualities (negative) include my temper and my addiction to gossip; I just can't help myself - I'm a people person and I love to analyze people! Temper wise, what can I say; I have one. It's pretty short too; however, instead of blowing up like some people when they get mad I tend to keep it in pretty well. I have a quiet sort of rage that rears its ugly head when I hit my boiling point. That's usually when I go lock myself in a dark room for a while and beat the stuffing out of a pillow.
17. If you could change something of the Harry Potter series, what would you want to change? I would love for Harry's hormones to not kick in during the 5th book. The only part of the series I didn't like was the first half of the 5th book because Harry was just so whiny! Other than the slow, whiny part, I love the rest of the books. Changing anything would be removing something that make the books distinctly HP.
18. Do you feel you can and will contribute to this community in an original way? I hope so! Otherwise, why am I doing this? I love Harry Potter, my computer, and being creative. It all adds up!
I'm usually on my computer a good portion of the day when I'm actually home and I'm very good at checking my livejournal. While I may not respond to every single post, I always read them, even if it means reading back a few days. I love human interaction and this is another way for me to express that.
19. How did you hear of this community? I heard about the community from
cmhaugen and
dummyroper.
20. Now is your chance: choose a house you would prefer not to be sorted into. (Include rational arguments, though.) Probably like many people, I would prefer not to be sorted into Slytherin. Slytherin just seems so power hungry and self-absorbed. I don't consider myself either of these. I don't think I'm a bad person ... I just have my quirks!
Maybe this sounded a little harsh when I initially wrote it. Frankly, I'd be happy with any of the four choices, but I didn't want to refuse to answer the question. The only reason that I chose Slytherin is that I couldn't find myself being very close to people like Malfoy and I don't feel like I'm very sneaky, power hungry, and cunning - what I consider Slytherin to be.
