So, of course, last Saturday kicked off the first goose season here on the shore. I am SO excited! I wait all year JUST for this.
I find waterfowl hunting less frustrating than deer hunting. I like to see results when I hunt, and more often than not (of course I’m not one to brag), when I take a shot, I don’t usually miss. A shotgun in my hand has a very natural feeling, like an extension of my arm, and I enjoy the flexibility to hunt more than one game at a time.
Plus, a duck blind is better than a deer stand any day.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love to hunt deer, but I just find myself coming home more often, empty handed and frustrated, having wasted a nice day to hunt goose.
The season ends on November 27th, and the real season (call this one the pre-season) starts November 30th and ends January 15th. I can’t wait to take a few days, just my gun and I, and bag a few.
Oh, and if I wasn’t happily going to homecoming?
You’d find me ankle deep in the finest marsh mud this side of the bay, a shotgun in hand, and a goose call nearby.
By the way, do you know what would be awesome?
Mossy Oak nail polish.
That would be AMAZING.
