004. First
"'Tell us about your first kiss,' 'Who was your first love?' 'How did your first date go?' Please listen to their answers to these questions," Inoo reads from a magazine with a monotone voice.
"Myojo never gets tired of asking the same old questions," Yabu shakes his head. "The rest of Japan already knows of Hikaru's imaginary affair with Shida Mirai, so why bother?" Yabu's foot experiences a huge amount of force and pain a split second later.
"Well, my mom used to kiss me a lot," Hikaru says, contemplating on his answer as he pokes his tonkatsu.
Yabu takes a sip of his black coffee and nonchalantly comments, "Then you got ugly."
"Yeah, then I got--hey, that was foul!" Hikaru cries. "Foul!"
When Inoo chuckles, Hikaru sends the topic right back at him. "When was yours?" He gets no answer from the embarrassed Inoo. Hikaru gasps, Yabu deadpans. As soon as Inoo finishes drinking his milk tea, Hikaru grabs Inoo's face with one hand, making Inoo's lips pucker.
"These lips, virgin? This is an outrage!" Hikaru exclaims. He then makes Inoo face him. It was hard for Inoo not to laugh at Hikaru's face, especially if he was being serious. "You, my friend, need to get out there and get some."
"Oh, you wouldn't want that, Hikaru," Yabu speaks up, eating the last of his tempura bento.
Hikaru glances back at Yabu and pouts. "Why not?"
"Ask yourself that question," Yabu smirks and gives Inoo a sly wink before picking up his things and leaving.
"Huh," Hikaru finally lets out. He lets go of Inoo's face and folds his arms. "I don't get that guy. Right, Inoo-chan? Inoo-chan? Hey, say something. Inoo-chan? Why is your face red? Oi, snap out of it!"
033. Too Much
"Pig."
"Kangaroo," Yamada taunts back.
"You need to work on your comebacks," Hikaru tells him.
"So teach me."
"No."
"Please teach me?"
"No."
"Teach me, or I will send this incriminating photo of you and Daiki to Kisumai, and you know what happens once it reaches Kisumai."
"I don't care, my rep's screwed up as it is," A pause. "Me and Daiki doing what?"
"I didn't say you were doing anything." Another pause. "So you two did something?"
Hikaru facepalms. "No!"
"I'm telling Taiyo."
"Don't!"
"So teach me."
Hikaru groans. Yamada's been hanging around Chinen too much, he figures.
096. Predicament
"Idiots," Ryutaro says as he, Yuto and Takaki are piled one on top of the other on the floor, with clothesracks, shiny costumes and an assortment of feather boas. "You idiots."
"Takakitoldmeafunnyjokeandyouknowhisjokesaren'teventhatfunnysometimesbutitwassofunnyIcouldn'thelpmyself--"
"Itwasn'tmyfaultIswearYutolaughedtoohardandIonlysaidsomethingaboutYamapi'sboobsand--"
"Shut up," Ryutaro mumbles, covering his eyes with his hands. "Just. Shut. Up."
Seconds later Shintaro would burst into the room and invite the rest of the juniors to laugh at his older brother and his fail.
036. Smell
"I'm not supposed to talk to you anymore," Chinen says in a small voice when Takaki takes him by the hand. Chinen's hold on Takaki is nonexistent. Takaki looks back; Chinen looks down at his feet, unmoving. It takes just one look for Takaki to know, and he knows. He knows that Chinen knows.
"I'm not mad at you because it's true," Chinen clarifies, voice wavering. Takaki purses his lips. Chinen knows he lied. He lied to him, he lied to them. He places both hands on Chinen's shoulders, he tries to explain. He stops himself from doing so. Slowly, Takaki pulls him into a hug. He doesn't know what else to do.
"I'm sorry," he pleads into younger boy's shoulder, holding him tighter. "I'm so sorry."
Takaki's clothes smell of tobacco, his breath of alcohol. The scent on the tips of his hair are reminiscent of cigarettes. A smear of lipstick can be seen on Takaki's neck, and this time, it isn't a mere practical joke. For once, he can sense reality.
Chinen only stands there, his jacket soaking up Takaki's tears.
