summary; On one rainy Wednesday, Ryutaro has one strange dream.
comments; I don't like Lewis Caroll but I like Lewis Caroll. I don't know where this is going to go, honestly. Aah, I hope I finish this, I've never written multi-chaptered fic before. My patience can only take so much. >> This chapter is so. Short. And boring. jdsfhk. Unbeta'd.
The pitter-patter of the rain can hardly be described as such. From outside, Ryutaro can hear the clouds pouring, the sound they make very much like the bickering of animals at the local zoo. Cats and dogs, they called this kind of weather. He yawns.
It's one lazy Wednesday morning at their location photoshoot, which cannot push through due to the storms being caused by a low pressure area located south southwest of Japan, so they are being made to wait inside. Ryutaro woke up so early for it, too! Daiki complains that he could've gotten those two extra hours of sleep that he needed. Light rainshowers my ass, Hikaru curses. Ryutaro overhears Yamada telling Keito that Hikaru was just looking forward to flirting with Keito and Inoo in broad daylight.
Chinen is, unlike everyone else, jumping around in the jumping shoes the staff of Duet gave him for the shoot. Ryutaro doesn't mind Chinen until he noticed the boy's absence in the room. Where could he have gone? No one could have gone that far with jumping shoes on. Ryutaro hears a faint thumping noise and the sound of springs outside. He runs out to find him. Nothing else better to do, anyway.
Isn't this Takaki's job? Ryutaro thinks as he follows glimpses of Chinen along the corridors, around the corners, down the stairs. Halfway down a few flights, Ryutaro wonders if going down the emergency exit with those jumping shoes on at such a speed was even possible to begin with.
He reaches the lobby. What was Chinen up to? That mischeivous little brat was up to no good, he knew it! Ryutaro's eyes shifted left, right, center. Bingo, Chinen was -- going out the front door?
"What's."
The last time Chinen ran off, it took a couple of shinkansen rides, a few "Daiki is short" jokes and a good twenty minutes of convincing Ohno-senpai to lure Chinen back. Ryutaro did not want that to happen again.
So he rushed out the glass door and into the rain. Chinen disappeared in the in the mist. This was not happening to him. Running on the sidewalk, calling out Chinen's name, Ryutaro loses balances and slips off the wet concrete. Ryutaro's eyes widen as he sees his own image being reflected in a big puddle. He doesn't just fall into the puddle; he gets submerged in it.
And he keeps falling. He doesn't open his eyes; he's scared of heights.
When Ryutaro lands, he lands hard. He thinks he broke a few bones. It takes him a while to recover. He slowly stands up and rubs his bum. He's surprised that he's still alive. Ryutaro takes a better look at the scenery around him. He is speechless. The checkered walls, the floating shelves, the upside-down jar of honey -- they seemed so bizarre, yet so familiar.
"It's like in that book!" he gasps, looking above at the long way from which he has fallen. He can't put his finger on it, though; all he remembers are the titles usually published on Shounen Jump.
By the sound of hopping, Ryutaro figures that Chinen must be near. His jumps have become a little... bouncier. If he cups his ear and listens closely, he can hear the ticking of a watch too. After dusting his pants and attempting to dry his hair, Ryutaro resumes the chase.
