Gibbon Time!

Jan 07, 2009 21:55

My Christmas present came in the mail today. I have an adopted white cheeked gibbon from the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. I love gibbons. There is a long story behind my involvement with gibbons. Someday I will tell it, but not now.

I had a lot of fun earlier tonight helping forensicanthgrl study for here Anatomy and Physiology class. I'm looking forward to helping every night.

I'm making swift headway in my current networking book. The book was written for people who have very little skill and knowledge about computers. In many ways I'm grateful being as old as I am. Back in the day you had to KNOW, or else you ended up with 14.4 modems trying to dial out through serial ports. I need to get a hold of some networking books of a more technical nature. I do not have a DVR, a multi-room house with a basement or a garage, and I don't have two kids with separate bedrooms.

I really really want to read "Lord of the Rings" again. But one does not simply walk into Tolkien. There is difficulty there that does not sleep. You just can't "read" LotR like you would any other novel. You have to slog through all the appendices and introductions first. It is not a fast and easy read. I'm afraid that if I do start reading it all my other IT studying and reading will fall by the wayside. I guess now is the time to present some mental backbone and show some discipline. I should read this AND my technical IT stuff as well.
