weddings!!

Jul 15, 2009 20:52

Over 4th of July weekend I was quite busy attending weddings. One for my cousin Cyndi and the other for my FFXI friend kamalloy. I got really lucky. The weddings were not on the same day, but were in the same region. I was able to stay with my family and not have to worry about arrangements for the other wedding.

My cousin Cyndi got married

A few years ago Cyndi sold just about everything and moved to Florida. Her life in the sunshine stat was interesting, and wasn't panning out. Two weeks before she was moving back to Virginia, she and her gal pals went out for drinks...

I'm am so happy for these two. He's such a great guy and a "straight man" in this family of "comics".

As for the wedding it was elegantly simple. Short and sweet ceremony. Lovely weather for the wedding and pre reception hors d'oeuvre. The reception was most fun full of dancing and family. I reconnected with people and made some new friends with Shiv's family. I'm very very happy about this union all around. All festivities were at the Hyatt Dulles

My long time FFXI buddy kamalloy got married

I've known Kate as Cydori for the last 4 or so years. We'd been part of a weekly experience points/adventuring static in FFXI. While our static has since faded, we are still social in game. We'd met a few times when I would venture to the Baltimore area for Otakon or a meeting.

The reception was at the Turf Valley Resort. It was a wonderful facility. Quite pretty. Huge hors d'oeuvre selection and the reception food was very tasty. I was quite amused that I had almost the same thing to eat as I had at my cousin's reception. A slice of salmon and chicken with rice and veggies instead of angel hair and other veggies at my cousin's.

The only downside to the reception was the live band. They were very talented people, but they were WAY TOO LOUD for the space. I was constantly shouting to talk to people at my table and developed a sonic headache. Some things sonic are not so nice. I spent the remainder of the reception in the hall or outside trying to not be sick. :(

And how weird is this. We totally look related!! I never noticed before.

Congratulations again to everyone!
