Rob's dad and step-mum arrive on Monday and will stay with my mum due to space constraints. Rob and I will still be running them round in the day, but we'll help compensate mum for the invasion by doing dinner for everyone in the evenings - at least that's the plan. What happens if (when!) the baby arrives is anyone's guess *lol* ..and my dad vanishes to Eurovespa on Saturday, so hubby/dad clashes should be minimised on that count.
Anyway, my inability to go all "nesting" with the half-packed house seems to have shifted to its next target: the kitchen. All I'm planning to do is bbqs and salad while they're visiting (easy and does not involve cooking on mum's dreaded Aga), but I can dig out marinade recipes, fill the freezer with meat and cook up the odd batch of soup. Space constraints are now affecting my foodie instincts too, however I'm hoping that it will pay off in time saved later.
Continuing in the theme of food, this week's "F Word" included Meera Syal, which reminded me of "Goodness Gracious Me"'s infamous "Going out for an English" sketch *g* and Youtube has provided. I still haven't figured out why steak and kidney pie is on a menu in India though *lol*
