I have now been in Spain for 21 days. I cannot believe that time has been going by so quickly. Overall, everything is going quite well. I don't have class on fridays so I have more time to travel, I have made some really fun friends here in Valencia. The people that I spend most of my time with are three girls from the UK: Hannah, Emily, and Laura. They are quite fun, and we usually ending up eating a lot of food together. Spain is noted for having quite a few restaurants since spaniards like to entertain people out and not in their homes. It seems as though the four of us have tried most of the resaurants here in Valencia. It's a bit hard on the wallet, but it's nice to have people to spend time with.
On another note, I started classes this week. I like two of my classes a lot. The professors are very enaging and talk slow enough so that I can understand them. One of my classes I don't think will work out, rhetorical analysis of hispanic lit. It requires several large projects and I don't have a command of Spainsh well enough to fully understand the course material. I hope to find another class to fill that thursday spot that isn't so tough. It is a relif to realize that I only have to pass my classes and not make good grades. OU only equates them as pass/fail, so if I simply pass the end of term exam, I can get the credit.
I went to a Valencia futbol game last night and it was fantastic! Valencia won 2-1 against Rome and all of the fans were so excited. Everyone had on shirts or scarves or waved flags with Valencia's colors. I now understand why the rest of the world loves futbol. it is because there is an incredible amount of energy from the stands and everyone is collectively enthused. I believe it is the same reason why we love American footbal so much. It's not just the game, but it's the people who go as well, and the group unity and excitement. I will try to go to another game if I can afford it.
I miss Oklahoma and all of my friends and family, but I am really happy that I came. even though at times it is difficult, in the end it is all worth the frustration and nervousness.
