It's been a rough couple of weeks, and I've been laying low for the most part. A few of you already know this, but I had to have my dear, sweet kitty put to sleep two weeks ago. I had the little guy for fourteen years, and after the initial combination of shock/relief (he was very, verysick at the end), I'm just feeling, well, kinda low

I'm so sorry. I lost my cat a couple of years ago; he had a chronic, degenerative illness but his death was really sudden, and it's a huge shock and a great sadness, no matter how much you know that it's better than letting him suffer.

It took me almost a year to be ready to get new cats in my life; there's mourning to be done.

Thank you. I do know that I need a cat in my life, but now is not the time. For one thing, it wouldn't be fair to the cat. Right now, it wouldn't be 'getting a cat.' It would be 'attempting to get my old cat back.'

I was a little surprised at how not-upset I was the first week, but now that the shock has passed, the mourning has begun.

*hugs* that's always tough; I think my roommate was in a funk for a good half year after her kitty of 15 years died. ;-; But it sounds like there are a lot of good memories tied to him, and it's good he's not suffering anymore.

Thank you. And yes, there are a lot of good memories, and I've been enjoying them, but I'm starting to feel the gap he's left behind.
