Don't misunderstand, Tempo loved things like volleyball and P.E., but he just couldn't control his powers. Or, rather, he could, but he was terrible at not using them. He was pretty lucky that no one noticed yet, but, well, there was a reason he skipped swim class. Lightning and water made poor bedfellows, and someone as quick as he seemed unfair in a sport. He managed at fencing because he'd done it since he was younger, but anything else was a bit like the lottery. If he won; he felt like he'd be cheating a little too much to savor the victory. So he's hanging more off to the side than with his teacher, trying to not look very disappointed.
Oh no, you're not getting off that easy. Don't think Kotetsu hasn't noticed.
"Oi, Tempo, right? How come you're not playing with the others?" He thinks, then pounds his fist into his palm. "Oh, I get it! Shy, right? Don't worry, I'm not gonna let anybody pick on you if you're still learning how to play."
"Right!" Tempo nodded and moved to the back row. That way he didn't have to worry about it.
And he didn't for a while, he was doing a good job at keeping things pretty normal until he saw a spike coming. As the other team slammed the ball for the ground, he dove, popping it back up for a nice save.
Phew. "Oi, you're pretty good! Why were you staying out of the game so long?" he calls. Actually, he's got a suspicion about that; working as long for the school as he has, you start to notice these things. But that doesn't mean you call them on it in PUBLIC.
This was disappointing.

Yeah, he's got this.

So he put on a smile and moved in to a group. All he needed to was just focus. He could do this without cheating. Definitely.
Or not. He couldn't help himself and moved to return the ball, just a little quicker than the guy next to him.

"That's pretty good, but try not to dominate the court too much, okay? Gotta make sure everybody can get some practice in," he calls out.
