update on Florence, Rome

Mar 14, 2005 15:01

On Feb. 27 we spent the day in Florence. WE saw the Uffizi Museum--Botticelli's works were my favorite!!! We also saw the Dom Cathedral, Santa Maria de la Croce, and we shopped for cheaper religious items. I found a Madonna of the Streets picture! Two days later, we went to the Castle de San Angelo and croseed the brige. THere were angels with the instruments of Christ's passion... It was really beautiful to see. It was a very meditative moment. Then we saw the new Church (Chiesa Luigi) with works by Caravaggio. We saw 3 fountains by Bernini in the Piazza Navona ( I love the man!)THe highlights of the Rome trip were the times when we weren't on the tours. After the tour that day, Jelena and I parted from the group early and saw a violinist playing on the side of the street. We stopped to listen for about twenty minutes and then our tummies told us it was time to find something to eat. We went to the Spanish steps and climbed DOWN them, which was neat. WE met some relatives of Ernesto ( a guy at my school) who are from Napoli and we hung out with them for the next two days. THey were in Rome visiting Ernesto. Their names are Anna Paola, Giovanni (her boyfriend), Gianni (Anna Paola's brother), and Gulianno (Anna Paola's and Gianni's cousin.
