I wonder what I sound like when I speak German?
I mean, I know what I sound like (long, embarrassingly vain hours spent recording myself reading German poetry has taught me this). But to a native speaker. Because I have this weird disconnect going on where my accent is perfect, but my grammar is not. German was my first language; I might be shit at it, but my mouth is, like... hardwired to make those sounds. But! I cannot make sentences work, or put them together in any way that makes sense, and I always mix up similar-sounding words and tack clauses together into these hideous chimeras of German and English grammar and it's not pretty.
BUT. DAMN IF IT DOESN'T SOUND PRETTY.
But, yeah! I wonder how that sounds to a native speaker. Speaking almost without a noticeable American accent, but doing it completely wrong. Does that sound really weird to a native speaker of German?
I need to go to bed. |D
