A haiku is a short none rhyming poem, comprised of three lines, the 1st with five syllables, the 2nd with seven, and the 3rd with five again. Adding to its simplicity, it contains no punctuation.

I hold a small pot
but I can still set it down
it does not hold me

That was one of mine, called “holding on”. I wrote it for a friend who asked me to ( Read more... )

Some good ones there, although the actual requirement in Japanese haiku is that you use references to the seasons and/or elements of nature - the Shinto influence, see. Nature is, as far as Shinto is concerned, inextricably entwined with the truth; indeed, nature is believed to reflect the truth.

Here's one of my own (originally I did it in Japanese, but I think I managed to get a decent translation in):

Pure and clear water
    Flows unhindered to the sea

        Reflects the great sky

I realise I never gave you your truth or dare reward for the Haiku. What would you like? (dont have to say here if you like.. send me a private mail :)

I didn't see the "truth or dare" part - which is odd, because I could've sworn I read the entire article.

OK, how about "truth"?

I have no idea. I mainly wanted to write a Haiku because I absolutely loved the idea. I hadn't written one in years and I found inspiration in your own, so the fact that I got some response on it is prize enough for me :)

.. but I shall make an effort to come up with something according to the real prize you gave me. What are the limits?

well, now that you are added, you can see my umm.. limits (or lack thereof).

A pic dare would be the obvious thing, but maybe you want a specific confession or revelation?
