Denying My Blood

Last night, Dylan and I got into a discussion about how we’ve sold out our geekdom. I told him the story about how I can go to Dragon*Con, and every year, without fail, I recognize/understand fewer and fewer costumes and T-shirts and whatnot. There was a time when I knew pretty much every storyline to every comic book in the major two companies, whether I read them or not. I just paid a lot of attention to that kind of stuff. Nowadays, the only comics I read is the stuff put out by Neil Gaiman or Joss Whedon. I find out about cool bands secondhand - which makes me kind of sad, seeing as how I introduced Spoon and The Sounds and Rilo Kiley to our little group (at least, I claim that I did). I haven’t seen uber-nerdy shows like Lost or Heroes. I feel left in the cold.

And then Something Positive does something like the current storyline and makes me want to go out and purchase some GURPs books.

(Although, in hindsight, the Changeling books I bought have been relatively unused).

(Although, in hindsight, no one around here’s really gonna play with me.)

And of course, Spider-Man 3 comes out Friday. In geeky tradition, a big group is going out to enjoy it on opening day.

Perhaps all is not lost within me.

Oh, and people are getting’ hitched. You know who you are. You know I love you. Congrats, kids. I applaud you.
