So it’s been awhile since I’ve updated the people that I don’t normally get to see in my life. That is to say, the internet. So here you go:
Here’s What Jason Has Been Up To.
I am still juggling two jobs, one as a “stock room associate” for Pottery Barn, and one as a “merchandiser” for Scott’s Lawn Care. They are essentially the same job; boxes come in to retail outlets, I take stuff out of them, and then place aforementioned stuff on shelves. With Scott’s, I have to drive to various Lowes and Home Depots all over the Memphis area, dealing with many different managers and employees in a single day.
Right now, both jobs are going really well. The managers at Pottery Barn haven’t been doing any hardcore stressing for a while now, which has given me an opportunity to really enjoy being there - even at 8:00 in the frickin’ morning. The manager at Scott’s - who happens to be the husband of my manager at Pottery Barn - has decided to give me more responsibilities as I am now a veteran of a year (or so) on his team. This means that both jobs are fighting with each other to give me more time on their schedules. It’s nice to be wanted.
School is starting to make me nervous. The deadline for applications is the end of this week. That means that I should be hearing whether or not I’m in for summer, or at least, for the fall. I’m not really a stressed kinda guy, but this is different. If I’m not accepted, I think that says some seriously bad things about my chances within my chosen profession. Considering that writing is about all I’ve wanted to do since I started forming coherent adult thoughts, this issue is a fairly important one.
In case you missed it, I had a pretty big falling out with my lovely A-List actress crush. That seems to have come just in time to coincide with her newest movie, Black Snake Moan, which looks to be a good one from the trailer that I’ve seen. Let me be specific now in my statement: I have forsaken Christina Ricci as the object of my affections. I am, however, still able to enjoy her performances, and this certainly looks like fun.
Speaking of movies, I think there’s quite a lot to look forward to in my local theaters. Pan’s Labyrinth is still holding on at the artsy theater, and both Zodiac and Pathfinder loom on the horizon. If you are looking for good movies, look no further than those three. I forsee good things.
Of course, I was also extremely excited about Daredevil, and we all know how that debacle turned out.
But seriously, check these flicks out. I’ve already ranted about Pathfinder, and no one has had a bad thing to say about the dark fantasy that is Labyrinth. And Zodiac is based on the very best, bar-none, books about a serial killer that were ever written. Believe me, I’ve read them all.
I’ve also been grooving to some really cool music lately. Tangee gave me the latest CD by The Sounds, and it’s just as good as the first one. Shana has furthered my music collection by inadvertently introducing me to the webcomic Questionable Content. The writer/artist is a huge indie-rock nerd, and every other strip contains a reference to a band that I just have to research. Thanks to him, I went out and purchased You Forgot It In People by Broken Social Scene. I think they’re pretty awesome. What about you?

My dear Prince of the Skies, The City On Film is also gracing my playlist lately. Thanks for that. And really, how is the life of a flight attendant in training? Been seeing exciting places? Joined the Mile High Club yet? Thought about visiting the bustling Memphis Airport sometime in the future?
And how are you, just in general. You’ll have to forgive me, I was just a little tickled about your new career option.
Mike
I myself am rocking like the single-story shack belonging to a man with a Viagra prescription. Your visit to this little cesspool I currently call home was fun while it lasted; you and Glenn should give me some more warning next time, and I’ll coordinate my schedule so that I, too, can forget what exactly it was we did the night before.

I’m coming back to sainted Chatty no later than March 31st in this year of Our Lord. I will gallop back towards the sunset on April 3rd. Those days in between will involve me getting my whiskey - and wrestling - on to a ridiculous degree. You and I will get to point at Josh when his man HBK loses at ‘Mania. It will be awesome.
Shana
Love you, mei-mei. Actually hearing your voice was good - I look forward to it again in the very near future.
Randy
You kick serious ass.
Tiffy
Miss you terribly. It’s Beale, for the record. Next visit to Clarksville will involve me lassoing you so’s we can actually spend some time together. Love you dearly - do let me know what’s up with you. (NYC, man-kissing in your profile pic, ect.)
And I guess we’re done. Happy V-Day Eve to all of you. If you are as lucky as I am, then you’ve got someone that makes your world more than bearable - they make it better, desirable, incredible. Give them a kiss and let them know you love them.
And if you don’t fit into that first category, don’t despair. We’ll try not to make a scene in the hopes that you don’t end up hating your day. And if we fail in that noble endeavor, then punch all of us in our stupid ass-faces.
Be well, kids. Good night.
