Bonsoir de Paris

Hi everyone.

Warning: this is going to be long.

Okay, so when I last blogged,we were still in Brussels. We got a later train than we had wished for so we won a half day that we used on seeing the Manneken Pis dressed up in traditional Venezuelan clothes as it was their national holiday. We then went to get frites avec mayonnaise which is a Belgian specialty, it wasn't even that bad.
Then we sat outside our hostel for like an hour to wait for the lockout to end and went to Paris by train.
It then took us FOREVER to find an open ticket booth to buy metro tickets but we finally managed and went to our hotel in the 19e arrondissement which is a PROPER HOTEL! The room is small but it's enough and the shower pressure is AWESOME (which, believe me, is actually incredible on this trip). We went out for dinner at the pizza place next to our hotel and then took the metro to the Eiffel Tower, and the metro actually goes above ground for a bit and we came out exactly at 10, so we saw it sparkle... SOOOOO PRETTY! We then queued for a freaking eternity and while we queued, they closed the 3rd floor deck (which is on top). I was kinda gutted because it's just really cool but then we FINALLY got up (after 90 minutes of queuing) on the 2nd floor which is pretty high already and it was just such a beautiful moment, seeing Paris at nighttime (which is one of the most beautiful things you will ever see in life, I bet) and being up there with two of my best friends. :D We all decided that if our boyfriend proposed on the Eiffel Tower, we'd totally say yes, whether we love him or not, lol.
Very tired, we took a taxi back to the hotel and fell asleep soon.
PS. MY IPOD IS WORKING AGAIN!!!!! SQUEEE!!!!! :D

The next day we had baguette for breakfast, YUM, and then went to the train station to get reservations for the train to Geneva. We queued for freaking 50 minutes!!!!!!! We then went to see City Hall and walked to Notre Dame and then we decided to go to the Louvre as it's free the first Sunday of the month which was cool even though it was obviously crazily crowded, BUT we didn't have to queue very much... We did see the Mona Lisa however. and the painting of the album cover for the new Coldplay album.
We then went to Subway and bought sandwiches to eat in the Luxembourg gardens. By the time we got there, it was like 3:30 and we were STARVED! Plus, our feet were super-sore cause we'd been walking all the way since City Hall. We stayed in the gardens for a good hour and a half, sleeping and listening to our iPods...
Then we went to Montmartre where we saw Sacre Coeur (my favorite monument in Paris, it's sooo pretty!) and went to see the Moulin Rouge and then we wanted to get food in this restaurant area in Montmartre but we couldn't find it (or I couldn't, haha) and we got lost but then we just went back to the Moulin Rouge area and had dinner there, it was pretty good.
That night, we were so freaking exhausted, we fell into bed at like 11:30, probably the earliest we've gone to bed at.

Today in the morning, we went to take the train to Versailles. The castle was closed but it would've been 20 Euros to get in anyway which is too much for our tight budget, haha. We went to a grocery store and brought baguette and Kinder Pingui and apples to eat there but the weather was unfortunately crap- rainy and windy, ew.
We went back to our hotel because Jess was only wearing a dress and freezing, so we got changed (oh, I forgot to tell you the funniest thing: last night we were doing laundry in the sink and Sarah put toothpaste on her laundry instead of laundry detergent, because it was my detergent and she couldn't understand German. Jess and I laughed until our stomachs hurt so bad we had to stop, haha)... anyway, after she got changed, we went to the Galeries Lafayette, a HUGE department store, probably comparable to Bloomingdales, but even more expensive, haha.
Then we went to the Champs Elysees where I bought stuff for my sister at the Disney store (Lisa , I'm not telling you what it is, though. :p) and a shirt and a sweater for me at Gap and a shirt for my sister and then we went to eat AWESOME burgers at a place near Champs Elysees. We wanted to go to Planet Hollywood but it was closed for some reason. Stupid construction work... :( Then we climbed the Arc de Triomphe which was EXHAUSTING and now I'm writing this blog.

Tomorrow we'll take the 11:10 train to Geneva from where I'll hopefully be able to blog again because this went on WAY too long.
