"Stop it Jack."  The Doctor is so possessive of Jack.  It cracks me up.  Where Nine hid his jealousy, and possessiveness behind disdain and sarcasm Ten just lets it all hang out.

"Can't I say hello to anybody?"  Um, that would be a no Jack.  Especially when for you, 'Hello' always means, 'Wanna shag.'

"Chan I do not object tho."  Ah yeah, who would?

The Professor finishes his scientific ramble, and asks the Doctor what he thinks.  The Doctor tries to come up with something clever, but he's clueless.

"Fat lot of help you are."

Martha, our resident Nosey Nelly, snoops in Jacks pack and discovers...DUN DUN DUN... a hand in a jar.  Was this a surprise to anyone?  No me either.

"Oh. My. God.  You have a hand.  A hand in a jar.  A hand in a jar in your bag."  Yup, he does Martha.

*Shit...I wonder if they'll notice the callouses.*

"Tha, that, that, that's my hand."   Well Doctor, you're so bad at keeping track of all your things.  Someone has to clean up after you.

"I told you, I had a Doctor detector."  *As for what I've been doing with it all this time...well what he doesn't know, won't hurt him*

"Wait, what do you mean, that's YOUR hand?  You have both your hands."

"I lost my hand.  Christmas Day.  Sword fight in my jim jams, trying to impress Rose.  Ah, those were the days."

"Yeah right, and what you just grew another one?"

"Uh yeah, I did, yeah."

"Get the fuck out!"

"No, I did, really.  See.  Hello."

"Might I ask, what species are you?"

"Time Lord.  Last of.  Heard of them? ...  Legend or anything?"

"....."

"Chan ..... tho"

Note to self:  Start writing memoirs.

Martha's still stuck back at the hand.  I fear she may be there a while.

But the Doctor doesn't have time for this shit, so he reassures her that it's ok.  But secretly he just wants to smack her upside the head with his new hand.  Oh wait...did i just say that?  Sorry.

*is confused and mildly turned on.*

"All this time and you're still full of surprises."  Oh please, you sound like you've been travelling together for years and years.  Well, I guess with time being the wibbly wobbly stuff if is, they could have been.  But seriously I only added this cap because DT looked so smexy.

Jack asks the Professor about the 'beasty boys' outside, and the Professor explains that they are the Future Kind.  They are what humans will turn into if they don't reach Utopia.  When the Doctor asks what Utopia is, Yana has a bit of a spaz because 'Every human know's of Utopia'.  Good thing the Doc's not human then.

Hermits United FTW!!!

The Professor shows the Doctor where Utopia is on his Gravitational Field Navigation System.  "The Science Foundation created the Utopia Project, thousands of years ago to preserve mankind.  To find a way of surviving, beyond the collapse of reality itself.  Perhaps they found it.  Perhaps not.  But it's worth a look, don't you think."

In that moment the Doctor finds a kindred spirit in Yana.  Explorers.  Willing to run headfirst into the unknown, just to see what's there.  Knowing what I know now...makes me sad.

Again the Professor starts hearing this tribal drum beat in his head.  Louder than last time.  And I believe it was about here that I first asked..."Who the hell is this guy."

But when he comes back to himself, Yana is all business and asks everyone to leave him to his work.

But the Doctor has cottoned on to the situation and has figured out that the Footprint mechanism thing doesn't work, and that Yana has been lying to all those people.

But Yana believes it's better to let them live with hope.

Hope being one of the Doctors favourite things, he whole heartedly agrees.

This cracked me up.  Jack has been taking notes from Ianto.  Seriously, taking the Doctor's jacket, just like Ianto takes his.  Even the Doctor did a double take.  I giggled.

The Doctor figures that a 'Boost reversal circuit has to be a circuit that reverses the boost.'  I love it when he tries to sound so smart but only ends up sounding like a prat.

But he pulls out his sonic screw driver, does some jiggery pokery......

and, voila!  It works.

"But how did you do that?"

"While we were busy chatting, I forgot to tell you...I'm BRILLIANT."  That's our Doctor, modest to a fault.  :P

Then the silo becomes a flurry of activity.  The people start to gather their belonging in preperation of boarding the rocket.  There are many smiles and much excitement.

Jack, Martha and the Doctor all run around with Yana and Chantho getting everything ready for the take off.

The troops are all called back to base.

The Future Kind all stand around, wondering where all their food is going.

And remember that convenient plot device?  Well it's just about time for her to take action.  Buzz kill.

The Doctor doesn't lick anything (*pouts*) but he sniffs something.  Apparently Yana and Chantho have been starving the people in the silo so they can use the food to build the footprint.  Nice.

"Professor Yana, you're a genius.  And I don't normaly say that because of...well...me."

"Says the man who made it work."

"Well that's true.  Maybe when this is all over you and me, we could find a quiet little corner to, ahhh, get to know each other better."  Nudge nudge.  Wink wink.

"Oh that would be lovely.  I know just the place too."

They are interrupted when Atillo tells them they've found the TARDIS.  The Doctor is overcome with joy.

"Yana, that's my love shack.  How 'bout I ditch Martha and Jack and you and I lock ourselves away for a decade or two."

But, unfortunately Yana marches to the beat of a different drummer.  XD  Yes last few comments were made soley to set up for this one.  I'm awful.  I know it.

Ok.  The Doctor uses the TARDIS to give the system a power boost.  Is it just me, or do bad things always happen when he does this?

Yana's head is pounding...literaly and the Doctor goes to check on him.

You can tell in this scene, that the Doctor has a great and genuine affection for Yana.  Under different circumstances you know they'd be great friends.

"It's the sound of drums.  More and more as if they're getting closer."  At this point I'm pretty sure I know who Yana is.  But I haven't a clue how it's gonna play out and I refuse to say it outloud, because it's just to horrible and awesome to contemplate.  And the tension coil is starting to build in my tummy.

"No rest for the wicked."  *groan* Did he have to use those words?

Martha and Chantho share an amusing moment where Martha gets Chantho to drop the 'chan' and 'tho' and essentially makes her swear.  And if this scene doesn't sprout some Martha/bug femslash I'll be quite surprised.

This poor bugger.  He's sent into a room right under the rocket that's full of Sted radiation, whatever the hell that is, not even the Doctor has heard of it, and he has to fix the couplings or some such nonsense. Anyway, as soon as I saw him I knew he should have been wearing a red protective suit, not a white one.  Those of you who read my recaps regularely know I have a thing with 'red shirts' and how you ALWAYS know who's gonna die, even before they do.  Yup, this guy is doomed.

And here comes the agent of his destruction.  She starts flipping fuses and switches in the wall panels.

Which causes the lights to flicker and the room to shake a bit.

But then she throws, what looks like a large monitor, into the panel causing sparks to fly, and giving Murray Gold the opportunity to give us the most rockin'est music.  What with the drums and the electric guitar.  It was awesome.  He should win some sort of award for this ep.  His music throughout the entire show, just kept building and building the tension until I was sure I was gonna blow.  Brilliant.

Oh yeah...and all bloody hell breaks loose.  The radiation starts rising uncontrollably and the entire system starts to fail.

Jack uses himself as a conduit to jumpstart the system.

Killing himself dead.  I lost count, how many times has he been dead in this episode so far?

But, like I predicted, it's too late for this dude and he vapourizes.

Martha starts to perform CPR on Jack.  She's definitely gotten a lot of practice at this lately.

But the Doctor pulls her off, telling her to leave him be.  Chan poor Chantho is beside herself with grief tho.  Chan she was looking forward to getting to know Jack better tho.

"Seems to me you've got a room that no one can enter without dying.  Well...."

*GASP*

"...I think I've just found your man."

Jack's only concern though, is figuring out who it was who was kissing him.  OH Jack.

This scene with Jack and the Doctor running full out down the hall really turned me on.  Don't know why and maybe that was a bit TMI but this is my recap too bad. :P

Jack starts taking of some of his clothes in preperation of entering the room, which has the amusing effect of overly distracting the Doctor.

"Wait, why are you taking your clothes off.  How am I supposed to think when you have all those bulging  muscles on display.  I'm only human.  Oh wait.  Time Lord actually.  Never mind.  Carry on."

*puffs out chest and flexes said bulging muscles.*

They get serious for a moment, and Jack asks the Doctor how long he's known.

The Doctor gives the answer that we've long suspected but had never been confirmed until now.
"Ever since I ran away from you."  Bad Doctor.  Bad, bad Doctor.

Back in the laboratory, Martha give a kind of explanation of  who the Doctor is.  Saying how he travells through time and space picking up stray dogs.  Then she goes on to say that his space ship is called a TARDIS.

This has a rather creepy/scary/ZOMGHESTHEMASTER kind of affect on Yana.  He starts hearing voices along with the drums in his head.

And he stares, like he's in some kind of trance, at the very open and vulnerable TARDIS.  Right about now, I so needed someone to hold me.

Now we go back to Jack and the Doctor and the 'door sex' scene.  That term isn't mine.  It was coined by someone else but I totally forget who.

Jack describes all the various way's he's died.  Shot, falling off a cliff, trampled by horses, poison, stray javalin (hence the Doctor's wince of sympathy).  Apparently the only thing Jack hasn't died from is shagging, which has to be an immense relief for him..  ^_^

"And all that time you knew?"
Men will be men right?  I mean it doesn't matter how old you are or what species you are.  They still need a door between them and hundreds of lives on the line before any real opening up gets done.  So Jack figures this is his opportunaty.  He's doing something no one else can do, and saving all those lives, so he feels he's entitled to some answers.  Quite right too.

"That's why I left you behind.  It's not easy.  Just, just looking at you Jack, 'cause you're wrong."

"Thanks."

"You are, I can't help it.  I'm a Time Lord.  It's instinct.  It's in my guts.  Your a fixed point in time and space.  You're a fact.  That's never meant to happen.  Even the TARDIS reacted against you, tried to shake you off.  Flew all the way to the end of the universe just to get away from you."
I still hold with what I said earlier.  The TARDIS' reacted that way because she was mad at the Doctor.

This pose.....well, I won't go there.  Let's just stick with the dialogue, shall we.  0_o
"So what you're saying is you're predjudiced?"

This amuses the Doctor, but he doesn't deny it.

"Shame on you."

Although he does spork himself in the eye.

Meanwhile back in the Laboratory, Martha, Chantho eavesdrop on the boys' conversation.  The Professor, well, he has his own conversation going on inside his head.  They hear Jack say that the last thing he remembers was facing Daleks, death by extermination, then he was brought back to life.

He wants an explanation.

"Rose."  Jack looks shocked.

Martha's reaction makes me want to smack her, but the conversation between Jack and the Doctor is much more interesting.
Jack:  I thought you'd sent her back home.
Doctor:  She came back.  Opened the heart of the TARDIS and absorbed the time vortex itself.
Jack:  What does that mean exactly.

The Professor is listenting and words are triggering, feelings, memories, voices inside his head.  Words like TARDIS, time vortex and daleks.  Tears are streaming down his face.  I'm screaming at Jenn, 'It can't be?  Is it?  No!  Please no!'

"No one's ever meant to have that power.  If a Time Lord did that he'd become a God.  A vengefull God.  But she was human."

ZOMG! ROSE! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

"Everything she did was so human.  She brought you back to life.  But she couldn't control it.  She brought you back forever.  That's something I suppose.  The finale act of the Time War, was life."

The words 'Time War' strike even deeper in Yana's memories.

Jack: "Do you think she could change me back?"
Doctor: "I took the power out of her.  She's gone Jack.  She's not just living on a parallel world.  She's trapped there.  The walls have closed."

To give Martha a little credit, all this time she's probably assumed that Rose was just someone who left the Doctor, like a girlfriend breaking up with him.  She's thought that he just hasn't been able to get over the rejection.  But now she learns that Rose was taken from him, against his will, and he can never get her back.  In effect she's dead to him.  In her human way of thinking, he's a mourning widower.  Maybe now, she won't be so jealous.  Well, one can hope anyway.
