Rose looks up at him, surprised.
ROSE:

The thing is... I thought I knew him, mum.
(eyes fill with tears, voice trembles)
I thought me and him were... and then he goes and does this.
(wipes her tears away with the back of her hand and sniffs)
I keep forgetting he's not human.
ROSE:
Yeah, I... I thought, 'cos you changed... you might not want me anymore.
THE DOCTOR:
(happily, sincerely) Oh, I'd love you to come!
ROSE:

You can't spend the rest of your life thinking about the Doctor.

But how do I forget him?

(weakly) Long time no see.
ROSE:
(as though this is putting it mildly) Yeah. Been busy, you know.
The Doctor convulses.
ROSE:
(frantically) Don't die. Oh, my God, don't die.
(whimpers) Oh, my God, don't die.

That's me. When we first met.
(Rose looks at him with tears in her eyes)
And you made me better. And now you can do the same for him.
ROSE:
(quiet, tearful frustration) But he's not you.
THE DOCTOR:
He needs you. That's very me.
DONNA:
But it's better than that, though. Don't you see what he's trying to give you? (to the new Doctor) Tell her, go on.
THE NEW DOCTOR:
I look like him and I think like him... same memories, same thoughts, same everything. Except, I've only got one heart.
ROSE:
Which means?
THE NEW DOCTOR:
I'm part Human. Specifically the aging part. I'll grow old and never regenerate. I've only got one life... Rose Tyler. (a pause, a lingering look between them) I could spend it with you. If you want.
