NESCBWI was short and sweet. Granted some of the shortness was inevitable, due to the high attendance, all of Saturday was unavailable. But I got the best of Friday, and today was also good.
An interview with Laurie Halse Anderson in the morning, followed by two longer sessions, one with
Harold Underdown of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Publishing Children's Books and the other with
The Write Sisters. As usual I came away with a ton of great ideas and loads of inspiration to take back to my critique group. On the ride home I don't think Jean and I stopped talking for more than two seconds, except perhaps during the momentary pause when we waited for our respective significant others to pick up the phone so we could let them know we were on our way home.
Next conference on the agenda? Aside from the Francelia Butler Conference, hopefully a return to the Rutgers 1on1 and beyond that? I don't know. Maybe SCBWI in NYC if I have something ready for sure. Otherwise, ICFA.
I need a conference fund.
And speaking of ICFA, I am now massively overdue on a more thorough recap.
But not tonight.
