The snowdrops came up with the tulips and daffodils this year.

At any moment now, someone will sneeze or blink, and all of Massachusetts will be running around in shorts. Of course, as a result, the sun was shining today and in reseponse i had to wear open-toed shoes this evening. I was ready for the weather, but the weather wasn't quite ready for me. Driving home from work I saw Canadian geese paired up and getting ready to nest. It seems they just got here. Nevermind that the trees haven't even burst into anything yet. You can tell that they're ready though. Driving home I noticed the branches had a different look about them, a different sway. The sap has crept back up into the trees' arms and fingers. I've never noticed it before. My grandfather used to be able to tell when the sap had gone down. I've not been able to pick that one out. Maybe I have to be at his end of the age spectrum.

NESCBWI is coming up this weekend and Laurie Halse Anderson will be there. Apparently attendance records are being broken left and right, the sessions are filled to the max on Saturday.

Things have been in a minor turmoil. I feel thoroughly disjointed with this semi-cold that's had(?!) its hold on me, trainings on weekends, extra-busy work, ICFA, and all that other jazz, to the point that I even had to bow out of critique group these last couple of times. I'm itching to get back in. The only thing that I've (barely) been able to keep attending is class, and that mostly because it's an online course.

We need to move again soon. This apartment is getting too small. Either spring has grabbed me and is trying to propel me out, or this apartment is picking at my nerves at long last. It doesn't help that my writing "nook" is in perpetual fail mode.

During nanowrimo I did crazily well writing in cafés and libraries. Perhaps that's where I need to look towards, to find detachment and solitude in the masses.

nescbwi, nanowrimo, spring, grandad, off-kilter, crazy weather, icfa
