I had lunch at 3pm today... Stupid people...
I got to print a document for a professor today. A 300 page document. Twice.
Why can he not print his own document off of a floppy disk to our wonderfully networked printers? I do not know. Ah, yes, and each section must be seperately paperclipped together so they do not infect one another. Oh, and for the record, after printing one copy, when he asks me to just copy the files so he can take the disk and send it off with the first copy to be copy-edited, that does not mean I'm going to make another disk for him. That means I am going to copy the files into a folder on the desktop and print them from there. Don't call later and ask where your disk is, I gave it to you to send off with the first copy of your huge document. What do you mean your "other disk?" It is a matter of seconds to copy the files from the desktop to a blank disk (which I did, once I understood what the hell he wanted), but you are damn lucky I didn't delete the folder when I was done. NOw that I think about it, that one disk was probably your only copy of the files...
This in between trying to edit two preliminary lab reports for Water Resources, answering the phone, loading paper in the printers (we seem to have used a lot of it this morning), talking to Prof. Lent's kid (ah, snow days...), dealling with Sarah and Maureen who kept calling and are annoying even when they don't call, and generally being the only operator on duty from 9am until 3pm. We need to get people in here on Monday mornings. I'm too tired to put up with this crap by myself.
I baked cookies last night. Finally got around to thawing out the dough for "Ginger Crackle Cookies." They are very molasses-y. In the bitter way. Probably due to the use of "Brer Rabbit's blackstrap molasses" instead of "Grandma's" in the dough. Not bad, though, and nice texture...
Oh, and I have walked too many professors through the basic concepts of "cut and paste."
