my spring breaks seem to have always been unexpectedly satisfying for one week periods with rather imperfect circumstances. for example...
------------------
2009: of course i didn't do anything i planned to do with people. however, i did volunteer twice cooking food for people, including breakfast at 7 pm. i helped my friend move out of his flood-soaked basement while amusedly watching him cursing and making death threats on his landlord's name. only to move back in three days later because the landlord's apparently not that much of an asshole. i then biked home in the admirable weather on saturday, and then drove back to campus again to watch a pretty cool rendition of a midsummer night's dream.
as for the rest, i got sick with something horrid on tuesday, but spent the week actually catching up on biology reading(which was surprisingly pleasant), getting headway on the paper due next week, and recording some music - a cover of a song by this
band deerhoof i basically became obsessed with over break. you can find it
here, my entry is under R# Major for those of you who don't know.
(edit: go down to about the middle of the page to find the file under the 'mixdowns' tab. also, one of the members just made a remix out of one of my ideas, which is super-flattering. it also sounds really freaking awesome so check all of them out! p.s. the original song is here with its
awesome accompanying video)
i'd gotten a little better by friday, and found plenty of opportunity to eat delicious food and get even fatter, watch delightfully feminine anime episodes of fruits basket with my sister, play some completely off-the-cuff music, finish watching star wars, curl up with someone special in the wee hours, procrastinate on schoolwork (of course), and still be completely unable to shake my deerhoof obsession.
...and of course, the point is, i've finally found love, life and truth eternal. mmhmm.
looking back...
------
2008: because it was snowing in madison (last year spring break was in APRIL may i remind you), my family decided to get the hell out and visit the south for a week. we visited some great points of interest and ate amazing food. and then came back to find it still snowing.
-----
2007: i did nothing but play music with living proof. what a swell time. :)
-----
2006: i vaguely remember getting sick as well this break, discovering a great Opeth CD, and laying down lyrics for one of the iterations of "room with a view", a song i'd be working on for about the next three years. :-D
oh and of course i also journeyed far and wide in an attempt to find eternal love, life and truth. alas, i returned home empty-handed, but little did i know the seeds were sown for one of my future epic romances...after hearing the sound of a bass guitar through a solid amplifier.
but more on that later...
------------
2005: i don't actually remember anything about my life before 2006.

i hope you have enjoyed reading this very interesting and informative memoir. go to sleep jason, you have a throat that sounds like rusty nails.
