It annoys me when people make statements like "why apologize for something that happened a long time ago" in connection with the Stolen Generation of Australia.
The Stolen Generation occured from 1910 until the 1970s.
People who are my age went through this. PEOPLE WHO ARE ALIVE NOW DID THIS.

Holy Crap
Kevin Rudd, Australian PM, to make formal apology to Aboriginals.
I don't think this article says anything about a compensation package, but this is at least SOME step in a good direction after all last year's crap.
