Wednesday the 26th I was at Navy Pier. I have this pic of
kirstenclioand a caped child that goes here, but I have to reorient it... We went to the Children's Museum and bummed around the pier. My mother and I had delivered some cats to be fixed, so we had an afternoon to kill.
Then Thursday there was Hungarian/Transylvania folkdancing. Kalin and Erika from Budapest were wonderful.
thehappyemowas there, and I met some cool new kids. Aside from some of the percussionals, I think I have it pretty down (and the clapping thing may come in handy if I ever get some gypsy style piece together):) If anyone's interested in learning, I hear there will be some gather at the end of July at a church in the city!
Saturday, I went downtown with my sister and took this shot from the Signature Lounge. After, we went to Bistro Zinc, and there was another drink. I can't say much about the food, as we only had salad, but OMG the dessert menu!!! Marscapone with fresh berries? Creme Brulee? Too bad we had no room...
Sunday, there was Pride. My sis said it was too political for her this year and I was just sad that the delay of 1hr (some chick fell off a float and broke her leg) and then the rain kinda cast some gloom on what was otherwise a great celebration. Riding at the head of the parade were a local couple who had recently been married in CA...nice.

celaenos_aeriealso attended and we met a few others to watch until the downpour lead some of us indoors for tea and lunch.
Monday, there was the Taste with family. Tried some pork and banana dumpling (not so good), then had my standby of plantains and goat (yes!). Taro fries rocked my world this year and there was also a sampling of curry fries with a chutney of some type. After, there was turtle cheesecake. My mother chilled and listened to the music and then we all went to watch the fountain lights before a walk back to my sister's car.
Well, more to come next week, as this weekend I will be heading to MN with my sister to visit
freakchelle and perhaps make both the Mall of America and Apple River.
Oh, and I just acquired another part-time job, very local. I have an interview on Monday, but if that does not work out, I think the two part-time jobs will hold me out well!
