Inglorious BastARDS.

Yes, another movie review. Big surprise.

#1- Inglorious Basterds irritates me, bastard is spelled bastard. Does anyone know why they spelled it incorrectly? Whatever the reason, that irritated me.

Don't get me wrong, I try to enter the movie theater with an open mind and no pre-judgments. However, the WWII time period is my favorite time period to learn about- mostly because that's what my dad and I used to talk about a lot and my great uncle is a WWII veteran [along with other members of my family- from both sides.] So you can imagine how important this time period is for me- unless you don't know me very well, in which case ignore that and move on.

I'm not a Brad Pitt fan. Honestly, I think he's gotten this far in his career because of good business choices and looks. I don't find him to be a great actor- I've liked a few movies that he has been a part of, but over all I don't see him as something to write home about. And him using a southern accent? Garbage. He was funny, yes, but still... garbage.

I didn't know anything about the movie- I don't watch TV [we don't have cable or even basic local channels in my apartment.] and my internet has been bipolar at best lately, so I've been pretty detached from the world. I knew from friend it was about the Nazis and yadda yadda. So, obviously, I'm thinking I'm going to like it.

Boy and I sit down in the theater.

When it ended I felt two things: disappointment and pain- from my brain cells dying.

Not only did I watch all the violent parts and think of every single anatomical term for everything that was touched (very mind boggling I'll have you know) but I poked holes in all of the historically incorrect things.

Now, I realize this was mean to be, for the majority, a comedy and not necessarily historically correct- but this is my favorite war. I don't appreciate stupid humor to begin with, let alone when it's something I care about.

However, I'll give the movie this- the beginning was amazing. The harboring of the Jews, the deceit, the admitting of deceit, the portrayal of innocence by Lt. Landa and then the ruthless slaughter of the Jews. To me that depicted some truth to the time period I love so much. And when Lt. Landa had the chance to shoot the Jewish daughter that fled from the property but didn't... that was interesting.

I enjoyed the "Emmanuelle" character, she was very strong but very... sinister in a sense.

I wasn't impressed with the band of Inglorious Bastards but for the Nazi killer and (occasionally) Brad Pitt. The other members were idiotic and pointless. And the guy with the bat- he over did it. The slapping of the bat was a great effect but it dragged on far too long for my tastes. And his out burst of baseball? Hardly plausible.

AND! Not only was the movie politically & historically incorrect- it was medically incorrect.

When Brad Pitt cut into the men's foreheads there is hardly any blood shed. People, as a health care professional and an intelligent human being, I can tell you that if you were to cut into ANY portion of the skin on the head the blood flow would be of MASSIVE proportions. We're talking overflowing.

And when Emmanuelle and the soldier that was obsessed with her shoot each other? Seriously? Could there be any more pathetic irony in the movie? JEEZ.

However, there were some funny parts to it and I did enjoy my evening.
