I just wrote an incredibly long entry about how amazing the Jenny Lewis show was last night. And then I clicked something, and it was gone. Damndamndamn.
So, Erek and I went to the Jenny Lewis show in Atlanta last night. (Best belated b'day present ever.) She was so amazing ... seriously, CDs don't do her voice justice. When she sang "Pretty Bird," my least favorite song on the new album, my heart melted. It was like the skies opened up ... I mean, it was absolutely incredible, the way she sang with such feeling. Her backing band was really good, too. Johnathan Rice, her boyfriend and bandmate, is a wonderful singer/songwriter in his own right. Plus, it looked like they were having lots of fun onstage. :)
After the concert, we waited around and met Johnathan and JENNY LEWIS herself. She was so gracious and friendly. She seemed thrilled and humbled that people wanted to meet her. She signed so many autographs, hugged everyone, posed for pictures, and even talked to one girl's cousin on her iPhone. It was really cool. When it was my turn to see her, I didn't know what to say. I'm pretty sure the words "you're amazing" came out of my mouth, though. To me, she is just so perfect. And gorgeous. (She's tiny, though -- about my height, but she couldn't weigh more than 90 lbs soaking wet; she makes me, at 5'2", curvy, 117 lbs look big.) When I told her that my name was Jenny too, she smiled. "There is a song on my new album, 'Bad Man's World,' that has a line about having a plain name," she said. "That name is Jenny." So that was cool to hear. After I got my picture made with her, she saw Erek and immediately embraced him around his waist, saying, "you're huggable!" It was precious, and I really wish I'd gotten it on film, but it happened really fast. So Erek has a cool Jenny Lewis memory. I will post pics at the end of this entry.
So, not to get off-topic, but it's October, and that means...
