I thought that the curse involving wayward memories was rather mild, all things considering. Of course, I might think differently if I had been affected, but I doubt I have any memories worth broadcasting. I've certainly done my best to repress the most interesting ones!
As for the other curse--the truly unfortunate one--I would appreciate it greatly if everyone who had the misfortune of speaking to me would forget all that transpired.
Now, who was behind that escaping-the-City plot? It seemed singularly disorganized and slapdash, if you ask me. Such things require years of research and planning; throwing yourself at an enemy without adequate preparation is foolishness itself. Perhaps instead of organizing an attack on the barriers, we might concentrate our efforts on research. In the relatively short time I've been here, it has become clear to me that there's very little working knowledge on the workings of the City. The guide is entirely sufficient for those who are happy living here, but shouldn't there be a collection of information on the City itself? I would take on such a task, but escaping is hardly a priority.
Additionally, I question the viability of filters protecting journals from the deities. If the City's deities are truly deities, filters are useless. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they were aware of the escape attempt. They likely had a wonderful time watching their playthings make futile plans.
I didn't think it was prudent to mention any of this prior to the attempt, as so many seemed to have their hopes set on it. No one would have listened to me, anyway.
Now then, I do have a question for the City at large:
Do you require custom-built weaponry?
I've found that putting inquiries in large fonts tends to draw more attention. If the above applies to you, I'm something of a mechanical genius. Of course, I can build most anything that anyone would need, but weaponry has always been my raison d'être. In the spirit of fairness, prices will be based upon the inquirer's financial well-being.
No, I will not build anything that has the potential to destroy vast amounts of property or claim countless lives. No, I'm not about to let anyone commission mechanisms that have the capacity to poison or otherwise contaminate the City's water, air, or food.
