Dictionary.com Word of the Day: beleaguer: force to quit; upset

...I'm not sure that word means what they say it means, but, whatever. Heck of a one to get on my starting day, shoulda done it with 'wanderlust.'

It was incessant -- worse than a dripping faucet.  Rogue was doing her best to ignore it, but it was buzzing in the back of her head getting more and more irritating each moment.

Running her forearm across her sweaty forehead, Rogue grit her teeth and pivoted to catch the pass.  Kitty had an amused look on her face, but Rogue spun to dribble up the court before the girl could say anything.  She was in the process of executing what should have been a perfect lay-up when suddenly--it got louder.

The ball bounced off the board and Rogue's determination to ignore it snapped.  She stormed off the court, cursing, Kitty's laughter ringing in her ears as she made her way to an open window, "You idiot Cajun!  Ah locked ya out of the gym for a reason."

Gambit said nothing, only looking at her with eyes that he was obviously attempting to make soulful.  It shouldn't be working as well as it was.

Rogue brought her hand up to her temples and took a breath, "Just because we took over the TV last night and made ya watch Say Anything -- it was not an invitation ta follow me around all day with a boombox!  Where the hell did ya find a boombox, anyway?  And Ah don't even like that song."

Gambit lowered the boombox and finally -- finally -- turned it off.  He gave her a smooth shrug and a devilish grin, "Guess you'll think twice next time 'bout turning off m'football game, huh, cherie?"
