One being the five or so giant crabs piled off to the side, obviously dead. And the other is a young girl, no more than 13, emerging from said ruins with her dreamberry in hand, nonchalantly flipping through it with one hand and spinning a pair of needles between the fingers of the other.
She seems a bit preoccupied, what with exploring the ruins and fighting monsters, but during this momentary calm one might wish to inquire as to why a young girl is out by her lonesome.]

But the sight of a small child, a young girl even, is more than enough for the aspiring gentleman to pause and reevaluate his current situation. As intriguing as the mystery behind the Ruins is to him, a young lady's safety will always be that much more important.
He doesn't hesitate in politely calling out to her.]
Excuse me, Young Miss.

She turns toward the young man, pokerfaced. ]
Yes?

[On one hand, it would certainly explain her presence. On the other, the young man would be terribly disappointed in his companions if they had brought along a child on their dangerous adventures.]

[ That was sarcasm, by the way. ]
I was investigating of my own accord and came across these ruins, actually.
Reply
Well, how improper, but she doesn't appear to be much of a lady at all. Not anything like dear Flora.]
My apologies then, Miss. I was mistakenly under the impression that you were a part of our group or could use some assistance.

That's just rude, she is a lady. A very cynical lady, but still--! ]
Rose Lalonde. 'Miss' makes me feel as if I'm already in my forties.
[ She glances to the dead crabs a few feet away then back to Clive. ] Assumptions are made often, but I am in no need of assistance at the current. Merely investigating for research purposes.
What is this 'group' for?

[Have a gentlemanly bow, my dear lady. No offense intended.]
While my companions seem to be focused primarily on homing their fighting skills against the desert beasts, I'm here purely for my own scientific investigation. [A gesture to the grand ruins.]
I'm quite eager to get to the bottom of this mystery.

[ Geez, everyone is so proper here. She'll just nod. ]
I was going to say you didn't strike me as the sword-wielding hero type. [ No offense...okay maybe a little. ]
Fairly mysterious. The wall-drawings aren't all that inventive or original, but it gets its point across I suppose.

[And he will just be stepping closer to the girl so he can get a better look at the Ruins.] You studied them?
Reply
[ and she remains where she is for now, ] I did.
Reply
And have you learned anything of interest you care to pass on about them?

Her eyes shift toward the man to regard him momentarily. It's times like this she wishes she wasn't so young looking, maybe people would take her a bit more seriously. ]
Oh, yes, but thankfully you came just in time to bring this poor misguided youth back into the city. I surely would have been meandering in circles for the remainder of my days until I collapsed and the vultures had their way with the discarded remains of my body.

Then 'no'. [ She was intrigued. He was obviously not out here for leisure, and judging by the small group in the distance and the plural 'we', it must have been some sort of hunting trip. Or something far more dangerous than mere sport. She couldn't tell quite yet.
She set her needles into the loop of her sash, ] Looking for clues, hints as to a way out of here, buried treasure, sunken cities, the usual that may be hidden in ruins in the middle of the desert.
