[OOC: D'AWW! So very Rolo like! I want to hug him]pureblood_kingJanuary 27 2009, 23:59:16 UTC
There was something about his aura that resembled someone else in Somarium. Kaname couldn't quite remember who had caused this sensation he felt weighing in his stomach, but the boy's eyes were very haunting. As soon as Rolo met Kaname's gaze, his interest level rose considerably, though he didn't show it.
"Yes," his eyes lowered for a moment as he thought about what those implications meant. Kaname would have wanted nothing to do with the Dream world. In fact, if he had already woken up in his own world again, then perhaps everything wouldn't have gotten turned upside down on him. His mouth curved into a gentle smile. "I arrived a couple of weeks ago. Did you just appear here in Somarium?"
Moving a bit closer, Kaname closed his eyes, visibly straining himself, and the bubble surrounding him extended to the boy. Though this was depleting his energy significantly, especially after helping others, the conversation would run a little more to his liking this way.
"Kaname Kuran," he declared, the smile growing as he extended his hand. "And you are?"
[OOC: aaah thank you! that typo wasn't though! *shaking, derpomgniisanJanuary 28 2009, 00:12:55 UTC
For a moment all he could do was blink at the hand, something so innocent and yet...There was something about this man that wasn't quite wrong. Not exactly malevolent, but certainly formidable. This only increased his hyper-awarenes, making him anxious to get out of the storm. It was then when thoughts of the torrential downpour around them popped into his mind that he registered the abrupt lack of moisture and glanced up.
W-What is...? Could it be some kind of Geass? His eyes rapidly scanned the sphere, mind going blank.
Looking back to the man, Rolo frowned. "What is this?" he questioned, a slightly more suspicious edge to his voice this time around. He was quite happy to leave that hand right where it was thank you very much.
[OOC: pfffffffffffft... what until you see some of my hideous mistakes]pureblood_kingJanuary 28 2009, 00:31:25 UTC
It really was tiring plastering on the caring body language and gestures. Kaname's blinked innocently in surprise at the boy's change in tone. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to startle you," he said, eyes glancing up at the top of the orb and hand lowering.
Internally, he cursed the kid, and his brain began its usual cycle of thinking again. "I'm not human," he admitted honestly, eyes still scanning their safety encasement before he smiled again. "I've grown so accustomed to people not being human here that I'm afraid I made an assumption that was quite staggering. I apologize."
Just then, Kaname sensed a large branch moving past them at high speeds. He altered his powers to allow it to skim the orb and as it partially entered, he yelled, "Look out," one hand taking the boy's arm and moving him out of harm's way as he stepped in front of the large branch. The heel of it hit his forehead, causing a little bit of blood to fall.
Making me do something like this, he thought darkly before turning back to the boy, the blood visible and the smile still present.
[ooc: baby, i wrote the book on hideous typos]omgniisanJanuary 28 2009, 00:56:05 UTC
Rolo hit the ground with a thud, although there was no pain to accompany the impact. He was used to trivial wounds, but his experience didn't make up for the cold shock that was seeping into his chest. Who was this man? Why had he decided to step in? Even using his Geass wouldn't have saved him - there were limits, after all, when bending the laws of the natural world. The hit wouldn't have been crippling or fatal, so why...?
Again he staggered to his feet, confused and frustrated with this stranger. Were all people in this world of the same maddening variety? His suspicions doubled. If the man had ulterior motives then he would not live to see them fulfilled. Especially now that Rolo was aware of his brother's prescience in Somarium. He had to remain alive if only for his sake.
Nevertheless, he approached Kaname with emotion on his face that he couldn't hold back. "W-Why did you do that?" he demanded, making sure to keep a healthy distance between them. "You...you could have been killed."
Re: [ooc: why am i loving this interaction to pieces?]pureblood_kingJanuary 28 2009, 01:13:18 UTC
Kaname's innocent expression doubled, transforming his face into confusion. "Why?" One hand moved up to his forehead slowly, so that he didn't startle the boy, and it was placed over the blood. A moment later, he removed it and the wound had vanished. "Well, I guess I did it because I didn't want to see you getting hurt. Furthermore, it was my error that my powers couldn't support the two of us safely. Are you hurt?" He asked, his voice sounding genuine.
He's not like Lelouch at all. One knew the art of manipulation while the other was an open book.
Although Kaname had read Lelouch's thoughts on occassion, he didn't like to pry into another person's mind too much. It made the game all too easy.
A moment later, he tilted his head, forcing his expression into one of curiosity. "Do you know Lelouch?"
[Have another OOC: Kaname and Lelouch get along and recognize that the other is a force to be reckoned with. We are toying with the idea of having them work together.]
[ooc: FFFFFF me too]omgniisanJanuary 28 2009, 01:30:21 UTC
Rolo frowned. This was doing nothing to ease his now troubled mind. Who was stupid enough to risk their own life for the sake of someone they had never met? Not only was it senseless and quite possibly insane, but furthermore Rolo was at a loss for how to handle the situation. If there was one thing he had zero experience with it was other people going out of their way to aid him.
He didn't like it.
"You don't even know me," he protested, face smoothing over into a mask of indifference again. He was determined to brush this off. One year ago this wouldn't have bothered him at all, but now... "Why would y--"
Do you know, Lelouch?
At this he stopped mid-sentence, eyes widening for but a brief moment. This man knew his brother. He knew his brother. He knew his brother. Did that make him an ally? Or perhaps he was an enemy of Lelouch's, the shadowed opposition. His trigger finger twitched at that possibility, itching again for the feel of cool metal against his palm.
"How... how do you know Brother?"
[ooc: oh my god that would be twelve shades of amazing. 8DD ]
"Oh good. I hadn't just imagined it," Kaname smiled again. "You two look alike. So you are siblings... then I'm sure he'll be happy to have you here."
Kaname couldn't really account for the boy's nervousness accept to believe that he was a very mistrustful individual. He idly wondered why the two brothers were so peculiar. Their world seemed to have a lot of inimitable factors that he would have to take into consideration. He was already aware that Lelouch possessed something strange and that it could be potentially dangerous. However, Kaname knew he could hold his own in both power and intelligence.
"You're absolutely right. I don't know you. But, you were in need of help and I was capable of aiding you in that effort," he spoke charismatically. If the boy didn't understand compassion, perhaps he would get sheer logic.
"And Lelouch and I are acquaintances. We share a bit in common and I'm glad I met him when I first arrived here in Somarium. He was one of the people that graciously helped me out."
oh my god i want to play my lelouch against your kaname. he's brilliant.omgniisanJanuary 28 2009, 01:57:10 UTC
"Of course. Brother is very generous. He does everything he can to make sure everyone around him is comfortable."
Which was not quite a lie, really. Generous was an extremely dubious term where Lelouch was concerned, as any who were acquainted with the man would know. And Rolo, in spite of his often puzzling and illogical feelings towards his false sibling, wasn't quite sure what to think of such irresolution. But he'd promised a future for the two of them together, and that was the only thing he had left to hold onto now that he'd given up his life for Lelouch's cause.
He shook his head and forced himself back to the present, to the storm and the wind and the curious young man before him. He was an abnormality. That much was certain. But...
Rolo shifted awkwardly, wrinkling his nose. He still failed to understand the man's reasoning, but.... "Doesn't it hurt?"
[OOC: I would looooooove it.I have seriously been waiting for a person to challenge him]pureblood_kingJanuary 28 2009, 02:25:22 UTC
"Not anymore... I've healed it." He pointed up at his forehead for clarification. "And even if it did, it's inconsequential when it comes to someone who is in potential danger."
Strange boy...
Not that Lelouch was a picnic in terms of easy manipulation, but Kaname at least could tell what was false and what was truth with him. This boy was a completely different species. He didn't need to be read. Everything had been made available to Kaname. It was just... he didn't seem to be configured properly in the head.
"I would agree about your brother. Are you... looking for him?"
[ooc: /shamelessly pimps ]omgniisanJanuary 28 2009, 02:56:04 UTC
"Yes," came the simple reply. "And I was talking about this...power, not the cut."
He shifted again, keenly aware of Kaname's fixation on him. This man was not only aquatinted with Rolo's brother, Kaname reminded him of Lelouch, as well. They had the dark eyes, sharp and focused save for the rare occasions when they were misted over, and it was clear that this man was extremely intelligent.
"Which power? The protective orb? No, it's not painful. A bit tiring on my body, but I think it's well worth it, considering it is providing us safety." Kaname admitted another gentle smile. "Don't you agree?"
He pulled out his Dreamberry. "I don't believe I have spoken to Lelouch since the storm began, but we can call him and find out if he is in a safe place if you would like."
The boy hadn't provided his name yet, which was half the reason Kaname had pulled out the Dreamberry. He scrolled through, pretending that he was looking for Lelouch's name.
"I've already done that," he put in curtly, one of his fists curling slightly. This man was getting on his nerves more and more. Who did he think he was to interfere in business that had nothing to do with him? Even more was his assumption that he could come between the two brothers, as if they needed a mediator of some sort. He recalled the last conversation he'd had with his brother before waking up. Lelouch had said he wasn't fit to be a murderer, that he was in no position to kill others.
Surely a pardon would be granted for this presumptuous, nosy, confounding...
"Thank you for your assistance until this point, but I no longer have any use for you." With that, he turned and began walking in the opposite direction, wondering what would happen once he hit the barrier of the orb. Would he go through it or would some magnificent force propel him backwards?
Rolo scowled. It didn't matter. After being told he was unwanted, the man would have to leave him alone. Let him talk about compassion and safety then.
He had felt the reckless emotions building up within the boy, and wondered what form they would take when they finally did erupt.
Interesting, Kaname thought as he watched his delivery, his face perfectly unaffected by the diatribe of words that had clearly become Rolo's safety net in the situation.
The boy would never realize how much he was giving away about his brother. Just the simple implication of using people was enough to verify Kaname's suspicions about Lelouch. It was obvious that Rolo cared about his brother, but the connection between the two seemed to be unusual. Considering how different they were, it came as no surprise... but still...
Well, this ends my entertainment, he thought, the orb disappearing around the boy as he walked away.

Lelouch.
That was who his aura resembled.
