After an hour spent avoiding the rain, checking the many empty houses and cottages for something to eat and turning up empty handed, Rolo had come to the conclusion that whatever people once inhabited this particular area had all fled to higher, safer ground. He could not blame them - envied them even, for his uniform jacket was thin and provided scant protection from the storm - but he was beginning to wonder if there was more to the eerie vacancy than the monsoon.

A worried frown creased his forehead as he once again checked the small device he'd found on his person upon waking. It was similar to a cell phone, and yet unique in many respects. His first attempt at sending out a rescue signal had thankfully been intercepted by his brother, but locating the ever elusive Lamperouge proved a difficult task. Rolo was tempted to leave him be (it was only a few hours ago in his mind that he'd gone against his original directive to kill the man), an inclination that was neither definite nor resolute. As much as he hated to admit it, he was worried, even scared for the other.

The road ahead was slicked with mud and no more populated than the last five had been. Rolo chewed on his bottom lip, absently toying with the object buried deep in his pocket, grateful that he'd arrived in this world with that much at least. Still, he was weapon-less, shelter-less, and brother-less. None of which he could afford given the general state of decay around him. He needed time to gather his thoughts, to process the information he'd gathered thus far. Up until now... nothing was making sense. With a sigh he ducked under the awning of one of the crumbling buildings, leaning against the wall with relief, and slid down to meet the ground as rain fell in turrets around him.
