I don't want to be here, some (large) part of him whispers quietly in the back of his mind. It had been tugging at his heartstrings earlier, as he dragged his sorry behind out of bed and took a good look at himself. Even so, Zero knows that he has to do something. He has to find something to preoccupy himself, and he has to find this something fast or he fears he might do something drastic. (Like giving in and calling Lelouch.)
That's why he leaves his cape and helmet behind somewhere he won't talk about and decides to visit the city. And, really, what more could he really ask for? He has his time to think and the silence to make it possible -- (but he doesn't want to, think that is) -- and now, all he needs is the distraction to make it impossible. Zero doesn't want to think.
