"You're cursed?" she asked as she continued to hold Basil in her arms. "Is it a terribly bad curse sir? I don't think you will have to worry about it here. Although if it's an awful curse perhaps you should go to one of the researchers. I'm sure they will try very hard to help get the curse off of you."
She continued to look up at the tall lanky man. She'd not seen his sort of dress before but she could guess quite easily he had arrived before the Gate had been closed down and no one had helped him! Oh how awful! Alice had been visiting her father's corporation when she had seen this gentleman.
YAY! ALICE! Sorry this took a bit. I got a phone call ^^.horrendous_nameMay 17 2010, 23:08:11 UTC
"Wha-"
Hiccup spun around, not expecting to have anyone actually respond to his personal mutterings. "Uh..." He stared for a second, not even knowing how to respond. The girl somehow seemed a little different from some of the others he had spoken to before for some reason, but maybe he was just imagining things. "No, it's all right. The gods just hate me."
He smiled slightly, like he was passing off what he was saying as a joke.
"Thanks, but I don't even know where I am. I guess I kind of got left out of the loop." After all, everyone else seemed to know he was a kind of 'visitor'. Why was he the only one who didn't understand this?
<33 Hiccup! <3 And no worriesmadcuriosityMay 17 2010, 23:18:08 UTC
"You're in Somarium sir, specifically you're in the city of Somni. Espoir Village isn't too far from here however. There, now you know where you are!" she smiled brightly.
"Do you feel a better knowing where you are now? I can try to answer a few more questions if you'd like. Oh! But I should introduce myself. My name is Alice!" Alice curtsied to Hiccup, smiling. "And this is Basil. It's nice meeting you sir." Alice stood up straight and gazed at the new visitor. Really she was starting to wonder at the rest of the residents. So many weren't helping the new arrivals!
He listened, those names pretty much going right over his head. None of them were recognizable to him in any way, but at least he understood where he was a bit. When Alice introduced herself, Hiccup smiled a bit more genuinely back at her. She was definitely being a lot more polite than many of the others he'd met.
"Thanks. It's nice to meet you too. My name's Hiccup." And his expression became a little more sarcastic again as he chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his head with his free hand. "Haha... Great name, right?" Not really, but a horrendous name was supposed to scare away threats.
"So, Somarium, right? Have you guys heard of Berk around here? How far away are we?"
The ultimate optimist meets one of lifes biggest cynics XDmadcuriosityMay 17 2010, 23:46:30 UTC
She giggled a little at his name. She felt a bit bad but offered him a smile.
"It could be much worse. You could be named Agnes. I think Hiccup isn't quite so bad. I don't think anyone will have the same name as you. Just think! Why, there could be any number of Alices in a room, but you'll be the only Hiccup! It's very nice to meet you Mr. Hiccup."
When he asked about how close they were to his home she bit her lip. It seemed really no one had explained! Oh goodness. She shook her head.
"Well it doesn't... hmm... how to explain this... You see Mr. Hiccup, Somarium is a dream realm! You came here through the Dream Gate, and once it's fixed you'll be returned through the gate and then poof! You'll be returned right as rain on Bark!"
I know, seriously XDhorrendous_nameMay 18 2010, 00:09:35 UTC
"And mine isn't even the worst. You should hear some of the others" He mumbled, rolling his eyes slightly. Heck, just ask Snotlout, but then again, nothing seemed to phase him. Even so... She had a point. "I guess you're right. At least people remember it."
Not that being remembered was a good thing on Berk, especially when you were being remembered because you're apparently a walking disaster waiting to happen.
As she described the world, he only found himself getting more and more confused. A dream realm? He had obviously dreamed before. None of his dreams were ever like this. Even though it made no sense, he had higher priorities right now, so putting that thought aside for a moment though...
"It's Berk." He said, the moment she was done talking. "And I didn't come here through any Gate. One second I was home, and the next I woke up in a field. However I got here, I could get back the same way, right? There has to be some way!"
"Oh no, I've heard much worse names than Hiccup.... I think Hiccup is quite a sweet name actually! Although, even if you don't remember coming through the gate, I must inform you that's how it happened. But yes! Once it's all fixed you can be returned quite easily!"
"No, no, you don't understand." Hiccup looked around himself. It was clear he was starting to get a lot more anxious. The continuous reassurance was actually having the opposite effect. Maybe some people would welcome a vacation for a little while. Heck, if it was any other time in his life, maybe it wouldn't have mattered to him, but not this time! "I can't be here right now! Everyone needs me! If I don't get back now, they're gonna-- They could all be killed
( ... )
"They? They who?" She pressed her fingers to her lips in worry. "Oh dear! I... I'm terribly sorry Mr. Hiccup... but... I've not... I'm sorry. I don't really know how the Dream Gate can be fixed any faster."
If there's anything I can do to improve, don't hesitate to tell me by the way ^^. I want to do ok.horrendous_nameMay 18 2010, 05:53:56 UTC
"Er- Right... Sorry." He finally sighed, his shoulders drooping. What was he doing? She obviously knew no way, and here he was pressuring her. "Don't apologize. It's not like you're the one who broke it."
"It's just, my tribe just set out to do something really suicidal, and they took a really good friend of mine with them." He wasn't gonna say that friend was a dragon just yet. He didn't know how people in this world felt about them, though he didn't exactly see many sheep or other livestock that could have gotten stolen by dragons anyway. "I thought I finally knew what to do to stop them... Now- I just don't know what to think."
Well... he ended up here instead of going through with his plan immediately. This world kind of disrupted his rescue effort.
"I need to figure something else out. I can't just let them all get killed."
You're doing fine <333madcuriosityMay 18 2010, 06:03:11 UTC
"Ah who... is your friend? Perhaps they're here. There's no real telling who came through the gate before it closed. I... could maybe help you find them? Basil is a most useful bunny. He can lists everyone in Somarium. And... well.. I do know that the time here in Somarium is very different from times in other worlds. Since this is a dream realm... well. If I recall correctly no matter how long you visit here little time will have passed in your own world. Or... I think that's how it's supposed to work. I'm afraid my father would know much better than I."
She held up Basil, the bunny just gazing back at Hiccup without any emotion. Alice thought it may be best for this boy to speak to her father. He seemed so terribly frazzled.
Just checking! Alice is so cuuute <3horrendous_nameMay 18 2010, 06:34:15 UTC
The hand that Hiccup had in his hair went down as he listened. He seemed to be relaxing a little. Sure, he barely understood, but if what he was hearing was true, he had much less reason to worry. "Oh... That's definitely good to know." It would have been great to know first, actually, but at least she told him. He tried to smile slightly. "I still have enough time then. Thanks for telling me."
"... It really knows all of that?" For the first time, he leaned in slightly to look closer at the bunny... Wasn't it just a doll? Was he supposed to just pretend like he thought it was real? "I guuuess it must be pretty smart?"
He felt kind of stupid for a second for talking about it, but the bunny clearly meant a lot to her. However, how exactly was a bunny going to be able to list things?
"I'm pretty sure my friend's not here. He wasn't with me when I got here at least... Even if he was, I'm not sure he'd be on your bunny's list... He's sort of my pet."
She's met and adores Toothless, now she just needs to get Hiccup to say his friend is a dragonmadcuriosityMay 18 2010, 07:08:19 UTC
"Well, maybe I know them anyway. Pet or not, anyone not native to Somarium is given a Dreamberry. And even those who are native still get one. Basil if you would be so kind?" She gazed at the rabbit and suddenly in a small cloud and a 'poof!' it turned into her Dreamberry. "And if you would just tell me your pet I could tell you if I'd seen them or not. You see, simply because you didn't arrive together doesn't mean they aren't here."
She began to go through the lists of names and then paused.
"So may I know what they are and what their name is?"
I know! I saw! She's been giving him scritches! SO CUTE!horrendous_nameMay 18 2010, 07:18:52 UTC
And now Hiccup's head jerked back slightly, and he just blinks at what used to be a bunny, not believing what he just saw.
"Wait- how--- What is that thing?" He'd never seen something change like that before! He also had no idea what she was holding now.
"Uh. Sure. His name is Toothless." Hiccup was scooting closer, trying to look over her shoulder at what she was doing. He wasn't his pet, but sometimes, he was curious like him too. "He's kind of... sort of... a dragon. But he's not a bad dragon, I swear!"
Hiccup was probably about to go on, preparing to defend his pet and stick by his words. After all, it was the kind of thing he had been getting ready to describe to the people in his village. However, there was some time for Alice to give her opinion first.
Lol it's a Dinah in Dragon form in her opinionmadcuriosityMay 18 2010, 07:39:34 UTC
She paused when she heard him say he was a dragon. It was just far too coincidental to be... well a coincidence! They most certainly couldn't be from different worlds!
"Would... he happen to be all black, bright eyes, and simply adore being scratched?" Oh and he has the most adorably sweet purr!" she asked. "Basil won't you turn back please?" Again in another cloud and "poof!" Basil returned to his rabbit form.
"Oh that sweet dragon is your pet! Oh he's such a wonderful Mr. Dragon!"
And the wonders keep on coming. Out of all of the dragons he knew, only one of em was black. The rest of her description only confirmed who the dragon was even more!
"That's him! That's Toothless!" Hiccup jolted back a few steps and his look went right to Alice's face now as his hands went up, as if he would have grabbed on to Alice's arms is he was actually familiar with her. His nerves here buzzing with excitement and maybe some concern. If it was Toothless, he had to go see him, right now! What if the other vikings had done something to him? It sounded like people from this world were ok enough with him, strangely... But Toothless still probably needed him.
She continued to look up at the tall lanky man. She'd not seen his sort of dress before but she could guess quite easily he had arrived before the Gate had been closed down and no one had helped him! Oh how awful! Alice had been visiting her father's corporation when she had seen this gentleman.
