Its cold… was Yuuki’s first thought. Something was wrong, she realized drowsily. When she’d gone to sleep she’d been wrapped snuggly within the blankets of her own bed, warm and comfortable. Now though it was freezing. A hand rising to rub her eyes sleepily, something cold hit her face as she moved and her lids popped open in alarm. What…? The sight that met her however was not what she would have expected.
Snow. Covering the ground all around her in every direction was a world full of white snow. Immediately she scrambled to her feet in alarm. Gaze widening in shock, her mind whirled as she tried to figure out just what was happening.
Where…is this place?
A thread of panic forming within the pit of her stomach, Yuuki immediately reached for Artemis, pulling it out, even if she didn’t extend it to its full potential. How had she gotten here? Eyes casting about, she realized she’d been asleep against a tiny building, and around her were small, cozy looking houses. But none of this was familiar, nothing resembling anything like the architecture and buildings outside of the academy grounds. I-I don’t understand…how did I get here!?
Alone. She was alone, in the snow, and didn’t know where she was. In fact, she couldn’t even remember having gotten here. The thought was enough to make her feel sick. It was dark too, only the snow seemed to reflect the buildings and places around her, along with the few lights from the cottage like houses casting shadows on the streets. Struggling to stay calm she swallowed several times but a visible shaking in her hands began, and it wasn’t just from the cold.
“Z-Zero…?”
Memories...she knew who she was. Yuuki Kurosu, the adopted daughter of Kaien Kurosu, and she lived with Zero Kiryuu. For her to have awoken in such a place though, even in a coat, there had to be something she was missing. The slight trembling of her body increased as she grew visibly upset. Taking a couple steps forward, she continued to look around her nervously. A soft neighing noise sounded somewhere in the distance, and she jumped. Horses? Maybe it was her imagination, but she kept thinking she was hearing something other than that too, in the distance. Wrapping her arms around her protectively she closed her eyes tight.
It’s fine. I’m fine. I still remember home. I’m fine. Just because I’m alone, it doesn’t mean anything. I’m practically an adult. I can handle this on my own.
She was of an age where she could think over things rationally and in a calm manner. A normal person was fine on their own. Just because she was alone it didn’t mean automatically that something like a vampire would…
Another noise sounded down the street and she jumped. Where was she!? All over again, it was just like that one time. Abandoned, alone in the snow… Holding herself tightly, Yuuki’s fingers dug into the thin coat she wore, curling up into herself. It was pathetic, she knew, being so weak. The heart in her chest was beating rapidly and her breathing was becoming quick, more rapid as the panic swelling inside her grew. Glancing ahead of her, she gasped. The world surrounding her had literally changed in the blink of an eye. Horror swept across her face. Everywhere, as far as she could see blood soaked the snow covered ground. It was too much. A terrified cry automatically tore from her lips.
“ZERO!? Rijichou!”
Trembling in fear she knelt down closing her eyes against the horrific sight. She wanted to discover her past, not relieve it all over again! Was this a nightmare!? If that was the case she wanted to wake up!
