The last thing Spain remembered was...pain and death, the deaths of his people as they were killed for being...Nationalist? Communist? He couldn't remember now. It didn't matter anyway. What mattered was that they had all been killed, his people killed by his people, and then everything had gone black.
But now what was going on? He wandered, wide-eyed, through his home. Where was everyone? He had never seen Madrid so empty and...desolate. It frightened him terribly, more than anything had in a very, very long time. Where were his people? What had happened to the buildings? What had happened to his home?
He swallowed, throat suddenly dry. His people were gone. No, no, they had to be somewhere. They had to. He couldn't imagine what would happen if they were-
No.
"Is anyone there?" Spain called, wandering the empty streets, desperation and panic in his voice.

"Hello?"

He didn't recognize the girl, but she had to be one of his people. So he managed a tight, small smiled.
"Hello. Do you...Do you know where everyone is?" Spain asked, managing to keep his voice from shaking too much.
Reply
"N-no, I don't. I came outside and everyone was gone."
Reply
Maybe she was just the last in Madrid? But how could she not have noticed everyone leaving?
What was going on?
Spain had to admit to himself that he was terrified now. There was nothing in the world more important than his home and his people, and now, before his eyes, his people were gone and his home was crumbling into ruins.
He took a shuddery breath.
"They have to have gone somewhere. They couldn't all just...disappear. Right?"
Reply
"T-that's right. I just don't know where they could have gone to." Even though he seemed as confused as she was, it couldn't hurt to ask.
"Do you know if anything happened here last night?"
Reply
Maybe...
Spain took a deep breath, and another. Calm, he had to be calm. There was an explanation for this, and he would find it. His people were fine...They had to be.
"There..." He had trouble saying the rest, but he forced himself to continue. "There was that...that massacre." The final sentence was merely a whisper as he tried to keep away the horrible, horrible thoughts that were suddenly plaguing him.

Spain paused. How had he ended up in Madrid? That made no sense...
But the thought was brushed away by his fears. "But...they couldn't have killed everyone. They were just...just purging that town...Where is everyone here?"
Reply
"That town? What do you mean? The massacre happened here didn't it, didn't it?"
Reply
"Yeah. The-...It happened in Badajoz, not here." Spain's frown deepened. This was all very confusing.
Reply
"Badajoz? That's not a town around here that I know of."
Reply
"Well, it is in Extranjero, not near Madrid."
Spain's confusion was slowly overriding his panic; he was still worried about his people, but well, things were sounding very strange...
Reply
"I've never heard of any of those towns before. How far are they from Hinamizawa?"
Reply
"Hi-Hinamizawa?" Spain asked, struggling to pronounce the unfamiliar name. "I've never heard of it. Where is it?"
