Rena's eyes snapped open as she bolted upright from her bed, gasping loudly. She took in a few deep breaths; the sound of the gun shot was still ringing in her ears, clear as day. Slowly, Rena's eyes scanned her surroundings. She was her room. But...that didn't make any sense. The last thing she remembered was being with her friends and trying to leave room for them to make a get away by distracting Takano. Her friends had left and then Takano...
Dead. She should be dead. But she wasn't. She was breathing and very much alive.
Maybe everything that had happened that night had just been a very bad dream? That could be a possibility. Though Rena couldn't ever recall a time when she had experienced such a vivid and real feeling dream. She shook her head, trying to get rid of that cloudy sleeping feeling she had, and headed downstairs. The house seemed empty but that wasn't too strange, her father could have gone out to get some things. Rena was almost to the front door when she noticed her machete sitting nonchalantly against the wall. There was no reason for her to have it now, but for some reason she felt that she'd feel better if she took it with her. Machete in hand, Rena walked out into the quiet streets of Hinamizawa.
Too quiet.
The longer she walked the more it dawned on her how empty Hinamizawa felt today. Not that Hinamaizawa was normally a very loud and busy place (at least not in her neighborhood) but it was never this desolate looking. This feeling of being completely alone in the village was starting to creep her out. If she didn't see a familiar face soon she was worried that she might go insane...
