At first Danny just tunes out the rising and falling sounds of conversation, completely absorbed in his cellphone's game. He's hunched over the device, sitting at the foot of some tree by a sidewalk. (It doesn't matter where--he knows where he is, and that's enough.) His fingers are working frantically at the device's buttons. Almost there--almost--just about--

"No!" he murmers, lowering his screen dejectedly. "So close..."

... And now he realizes the voice he'd been hearing is still talking out loud. No longer finding his game as appealing as before, Danny tucks it away, looking around. Where--there! Down the sidewalk, talking to a... stuffed animal? No, hold on. It's... "A dreamberry?" Danny mumbles, raising his eyebrows. Weird.

He watches her a moment, until he concludes that no, she's not in a conversation with someone via Dreamberry. She's just talking.

Ignoring the small voice of doubt in his head, Danny stands up and starts walking toward her, brushing dirt off his jeans. She looks lost--and now that he hears her say as much, he knows it for sure.

"Uh... Hello?"

She blinked when she heard a voice behind her and she turned to look at the speaker. Her eyes widened at how... improper the boy was dressed! Where was his vest, his coat! Goodness, he didn't have a tie, or even a hat! Had he been robbed? She continued to watch the boy for a moment before she offered a small curtsy. If he had been robbed he didn't need any more trouble she supposed.

"Hello sir," she said. She kept gazing at his bare arms and blushing. She finally had to look away. Goodness... to have even his over-shirt stolen. "Um... are you alright?" she figured she would try to let him say if he had been accosted if he felt like it. And if he had been then she supposed they could look for a constable or a bobby together.

Alice would even forgo finding out where she was to help the boy if he needed it. And he clearly did!

Danny fidgets a little under her shocked stare, sneaking a glance at himself. What? Did he get ketchup on his shirt and not notice, or something? ... No--he looks perfectly normal. Well, as normal as someone without a jacket on a winter's day can be--but it's warm today! He's just fine the way he is.

"Uh..." Danny says, folding his bare arms a little self-conciously. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why? Are, uh--you know, you alright?"

"Oh! I'm perfectly fine," being lost aside of course. But this boy was either very proud or very brave to not admit to being mugged and asking for help. Perhaps it was the former though since there had to be a reason he came to her right? He wouldn't have just come to her so indecently unless he needed help right? Right. Her logic was quite sound. "Are... you sure you're alright sir?"

"Oh," he says awkwardly. "Uh... good, then."

Argh, she's still staring at him. Danny descreetly checks his hand, wondering if he's glowing, or see-through, or--or anything! ... No. He's perfectly normal--heck, not just normal for Somarium, but normal for his own world, too! It's hard to get more plain than that.

But if that's the case, then why's she looking at him like he's grown another head?

"Yeah! I'm fine--why wouldn't I be?" ... Hold on is his fly ope--nope, closed. Okay, then, time for a little more direct approach. "Is there, uh, something wrong?" Yeah. Direeect.

Well, she supposed he might be a bit... worried about being robbed again. But hopefully he didn't think she would steal from him.

"Well... you know sir, if you were robbed and need help you can just say it. I would be more than willing to help you."

She's getting a blank look for all that. "... Robbed? Help? What makes you think I've been robbed?" Danny asks incredulously. He looks at himself, no longer just sneaking glances.

... He still doesn't get it, and now she's getting a funny look coming back at her. "Is this because I don't have a jacket? Dude, it was hot earlier! I left it at home."

As soon as he started to yell at her, her eyes narrowed and her hands went to her hips.

She didn't know what a "dude" was. She didn't much care. Why was he yelling at her when she was just trying to help him! Who went out so indecently just because it was hot! Alice couldn't even place his accent but she most certainly knew that he was screaming.

"You don't need to yell at me!" she said as she continued to gaze up at him. "I was just trying to be helpful!"

"I wasn't--"

He cuts himself off abruptly, counting to three until he says (in a quieter voice,) "But I wasn't yelling! ...Nevermind." He rubs his eyes with a hand for a moment, before saying, "Look, can we just start over?"
