She turned her head and gazed at the gentleman that had addressed her. She blinked up at him and how he was so peculiarly dressed! It was like the tailor hadn't finished his suit! Still, he had a pleasant smile and he seemed to want to help her! Alice certainly wouldn't hold him against having a bad tailor. Perhaps his tailor had cheated him out of the rest of his suit! No... that wasn't very nice of her to think that the tailor was the unsavory sort. Perhaps the gentleman had tried to sew his own clothes! Which was a curious thing since had never met a man that could sew unless they were specifically tailors. Still, it would make sense. He did a very nice job for having never sewn before!
She gave a small curtsy to the man and offered a smile in return for his own smile. Smiles were a lovely thing she thought. Cheshire was... perhaps the exception to the rule she supposed. Though he grinned more than smiled. But he had such a terribly dangerous grin filled with sharp teeth. But he was a cat, cats' were supposed to have sharp teeth. She shook her head. And put her attention back on the gentleman.
"How do you do sir," she said as a proper lady should. "Yes... I do believe I am lost... I don't even know where I am I'm afraid!" she said and blinked when Basil returned to the shape of a stuffed bunny. But she said nothing about it. Basil was a very useful bunny, Alice decided. Though she still didn't understand what the little box was or did. But she had asked for help and Basil had gotten her help! She would have to find a way to thank the little rabbit. The question was how. Maybe she get him a very nice ribbon? Or no, she supposed that was something for girls. Perhaps a little hat! Oh he would look adorable with a little top hat! And then he would be a gentleman rabbit! She would have to call him Sir Basil.
"Would you please tell me... ah us," she looked down at Basil, "Where we are... although Basil already may know he's just not a very talkative bunny I'm afraid. Which I can't really hold against him, he's been terribly helpful to me as soon as I have arrived. But I don't know where I've arrived! Which is a very worrisome thing you see." She was used to traveling to different worlds, but at least the people here didn't seem mad!
"Could you please tell me where I am?" she asked finally.
Perhaps he was somewhat peculiar to Alice, but ironically, Adachi found Alice's appearance to be odd. He clicked his tongue gently and pulled his coat around him more forcefully against the cold weather and continued to smile in her direction. She seemed like a sweet young thing, if a little odd. Her curtsy allowed a small laugh to escape as he brought his hands up and shook his head.
"Hey, it's okay. There's no need to act so formal around me; it makes me feel old." He slyly placed his hands into his pockets and cast a quick glance around. They were, for the most part, alone-- at least Adachi didn't need to worry about being watched by that damn Javert. And yet, something held his 'acceptable behavior' barrier up, and instead of giving her a dark smile he shifted from foot to foot, casually waving a hand.
"You're in Somarium," he said lightly, finding his patience quickly running out-- though he knew better than to show it. Who was Basil? What was she even talking about? He shook his head and rubbed an absent hand against his neck, letting out a low sigh.
"Honestly, no one really knows how we got here. It's like... well, some people call it a dreamworld. I don't really know what to call it myself." He lingered on spot for a long moment, and turned to face sideways. He pointed towards her Dreamberry-- was that Basil?-- and then pulled his out of his pocket. "We're all given these when we first get here. It's pretty much your communicative lifeline. I don't know what I'd do without mine, I've gotten pretty attached to it, haha." He paused for a short moment and then shrugged his shoulders.
"Formal?" Alice repeated. Whatever did he mean? She hadn't curtsied that deeply as far as she was aware. But perhaps he wasn't used to being curtsied to at all? Well that could certainly do it she supposed. She didn't know how being formal made someone feel old either. Shouldn't it just make them feel polite? She wasn't sure how being polite made someone feel old. Unless being polite MADE someone older. But no, that only made them well mannered and well bred! What a curious man she was speaking too.
As he continued to explain everything she gazed at the... Dreamberry. Was it edible then? Why else would you call it a berry if it wasn't? Then again mistletoe was a berry but it was poisonous. And she had never seen a square berry before. Though she supposed if there were such things as bread-and-butterflies then squareberries weren't all that hard to believe. But he hadn't called it a squareberry, he called it a Dreamberry. And she could speak through it? Goodness! Could she send letters through it then? Would Basil be able to walk and carry her letters then?
"Thank you, sir," she said, "for the information." He didn't have to tell her yet he did. Still... he seemed like such a terribly antsy fellow! "Sir, am I holding you up for an engagement?" she asked curiously. If she was she didn't want to keep him. But he seemed like he was... waiting for something to happen. What Alice wasn't sure.
"Well, yeah." He vaguely gestured a curtsy with his hands and shook his head. He smiled gently and then shoved his hands into his pockets-- it was far too cold to have them waving around right now. He watched her curious expression wrinkle in thought, and he found himself fighting back a small laugh.
"Oh, but that's not all." He crouched down so that he was at her level, and held the device up. "No one knows how, but it somehow broadcasts dreams. It's really strange the first time you see it. Heh, I didn't even believe that when people first told me." He took a quick glance up towards the sky and let out a chuckle, soon straightening himself up.
Adachi blinked slowly with her question and smiled a kind, almost mocking smile. He was shaking his head again as his hands once again pulled his coat tightly around him for warmth. Adachi had no intention of freezing himself to the spot, so his movements probably were somewhat off-putting for poor Alice. Of course, that's ignoring the strange and very creepy vibe the man might have given off, if he weren't so talented at hiding it.
"No, I'm just not used to weather like this. Back where I'm from, the worst type of weather we'd get is rain, but that was pretty manageable. Heh, what do you think about the snow? Aren't you cold?"

"It's called a Dreamberry."
