Cielo didn't pay attention to his own little Dreamberry device all that often. Perhaps if he did, he'd have noticed one of his tribe mate's names vanishing from the list. As it was, the young man still thought everything was normal, his dwindling tribe was still three strong. He just thought there were better things to do then sit around, staring at a little screen
( ... )
"Dis is Somarium!" He made a wide motion with his arms, as if encompassing the whole world in them. "People say dis whare ya go when ya be fallin asleep~" His head tilted towards his shoulder and he closed his eyes, letting his arms sway back and forth at his sides for a moment, hands hidden in the too big sleeves of the jacket, before snapping them open again.
"Dat ting dere is a Dreamberry! You can talk to all de other dreamin' people wit it, and it'll record de tings ya dream too." Cielo crouched down so he was perched on his toes at the edge of the tree limb, hands resting on his elbows. He was being helpful!
"Somarium?" she repeated. Well if this was the place she went when she went to sleep, it was only a matter of waking up. Quite a simple thing really. Now... how did one wake themselves up when they were aware they were dreaming? She watched the older boy move around and she was terribly curious about his jacket. It was wonderfully colorful but she had never seen anything like it before!
When he pointed at Basil she blinked. A Dreamberry? Well she had no intention of eating Basil, not after he had been so wonderfully helpful to her! That would have been rude.
"And... who are you sir?" she asked since he seemed to know so much.
"Not sir! Cielo!" He said brightly and thumbed at his chest. "A' de Embryon Tribe."
With that, he leaped down from the tree, his jacket flying open and his braids dancing around his shoulders as he landed. He didn't wear much under the jacket, black shorts and t-shirt covered in bits of grey kevlar. It all seemed very drab for such a colorful person, save the streak of bright orange around his waist that stood out in defiance against the gloom.
"Of the what tribe?" she said with curiosity as he spoke of... well she wasn't sure what he meant by tribe. To some degree she knew what a tribe was, but she had no clue what an "ember-on" was. She knew what an ember was of course. And she knew what the word "on" was. He was a part of a fire tribe? She was fascinated and worried simultaneously! Fire was terribly dangerous!
She blinked and realized that he was asking her for her name though his accent was such a curious thing! She barely understood it!
"Dey..." she frowned and shook her head giving a small curtsy. "My name is Alice, Alice Liddell. It's very nice to meet you Mr. Cielo!"
"Embryon!" He said with a proud grin, puffing up his chest and tapping the orange streak with the tips of his fingers. He had every reason to be proud. His tribe meant everything to him, and they were the best and strongest out of all The Junkyard. He just wished they'd stop getting sent away. Or was it made to wake up if this place was a dream? It's hard to say since he sleeps and dreams while he's here, so if this was where you go when you dream then what's going on when he's dreaming in the dream?
It made his head hurt.
This was the part where he was supposed to do that thing with his hand right? When meeting someone? Cielo stuck his hand out to her, meaning to shake-or-whatever-it-was. Only the motion was a bit too harsh and abrupt, but he didn't really know any better. "Nice ta meet you, Alice!"
"Oh! You're trying to shake hands!" she giggled, realizing what he was trying to do. The twins had been very... abrupt about that as well. She offered him her hand took his hand. "It's nice to meet you as well Mr. Cielo."
Well... whatever world she was in at least the people were nice. Or he was nice at least. And she wasn't sure about the nonsense of his "tribe" (she'd never seen a tribe before, she wondered what it looked like) but perhaps his tribe was as nice as he was. Though she wondered if they all had such a curious accent like him! She'd never heard such an accent before!
Cielo's expression faltered for a moment when she tried to move away from him. Had he done something wrong already? Usually people don't start acting like that until they find out he's a cannibal, but he hadn't even said anything of the sort! It's not like he goes around arbitrarily eating people on the streets, he's a monster that eats monsters! Or people that act like monsters. Or people that try to hurt him or his comrades. Or candy and blueberry pie
( ... )
It was becoming terribly difficult to understand him and follow his motions. But she was trying her best. He was a certainly nice person... odd though he was. It was probably best that she didn't know he was a cannibal demon. She didn't want to be eaten of course! How dreadful! Why anyone would want to be willingly eaten would never make sense to her. She ate creatures too, but not people. She would never eat a person!
When he gazed down at her, she looked down at herself as well. Was there something on her dress? Her face? She would have taken offense to being called squishy had she been able to hear her thoughts. It was a good thing she couldn't. It wouldn't have been a very good thing to start a fight so early in her arrival.
"A... well... I'm a little girl yes," she said. She knew "kid" was slang for child but she didn't often hear slang.
It wasn't his fault he spoke this way, nor did he even know what it meant. He's never heard of the carribean or how the people there put their words together. Once upon a time he'd been hit with a strange bolt of light, and some time later his eyes turned blue and he confused people when he tried to talk. At least his comrades got used to it quickly enough, but it can be frustrating when people get upset with him because they don't understand.
"Like a child?" The leader of the Wolves tribe had mentioned children once, and all he could figure was that they were little people.
"Never... well... surely you were once a child yourself Cielo," she said as she gazed at the blue-haired boy. Wasn't that how things always worked? You were born a baby, then you were a child, and then you grew up. The only exception she could think of was the Looking Glass. But even the White Queen had a daughter named Lily.
Cielo shook his head, the beads in his hair clacking against each other. "Dere were no children in de Junkyard." He rubbed the back of his neck, brows furrowing as he tried to think of a way to explain. It wasn't something any of them really understood.
"We found dis place under de temple, and de one guarding it said it was de Sea of Milk. Dere were... people in it. Sorta. Gale tinks dat's were we came from, all grown up!"
"Sea of.... milk?" she asked a bit incredulously. She rather hoped it wasn't what it sounded. She could only imagine how quickly the milk became rancid. Oh goodness, if it curdled how did he not have a sea of cheese already? But the more pressing matter... what that apparently they just sprang up out of the milk full grown!
He shook his head again, then swatted one of the braids out of his eyes. "Always been like dis as far back as I can remember, ya?" That could be why he seemed so childish at times, he never had the chance to grow up properly. Though he didn't really understand what that meant exactly.
