In the residential district, there was an odd sight on the street. Well, odder than usual.

Duzell had been ouotside for many days, just walking around. The sight if monsters and even the passing sandstorm had little effect on his mood. Though, he had become slightly agitated due to how many people he had seen outside, and were either doing something stupid, or sleeping. In the end, the people were able to defend themselves, and it made the vampire feel even more uncomfortable thinking if he did pass up another person, they might be someone that was unable to defend themselves ( ... )

When Miranda heard the words, her head shot up, her prayer cut off, and her eyes were wide with shock and slight fear. Was...there somebody out there? Was she saved?

"Y-y-y-y-yes, I-I'm fine." she said, her terror making her stutter so much she was hardly intelligible. "Who...who a-are you?"

She didn't seem like a very social person, from his impression so far. At least she was uninjured. The girl asked who he was, and the vampire sighed. Well, if he told he was a vampire, that wouldn't really help her... demeanor. He decided to stick to the simple things. Despite his rather strange look, the vampire looked human as possible.

"Duzell," he mused, "I happened to be passing by," he mused, hoping she would understand the rest.

She couldn't see him through the clocks that made up Time Out, but from his voice, he sounded reliable enough.

"Well, th-thank you." she said, her stammering lessening slightly as her terror faded into unease. "Are those...th-things still close by?"

Shinigami had known about the monsters the very moment they sprang up. In Somarium, his soul was not grounded to anything, but it was still large enough to encompass the city and feel anything within it.

And so, since he was able, he took it upon himself to do a little hunting on his own. He wasn't sure exactly how many of Somarium's residents could fight or defend themselves.

He'd taken down quite a number before he came upon a sorry sight. Someone was quivering in terror inside what appeared to be self-made defenses. With a few mighty shinigami chops, he was able to take down any nearby fiends, and with that accomplished, he turned his attention to their would-be victim.

"Alright in there?" Death asked.

Miranda had been too wrapped up in her mind-numbing fright to hear the yells of the monsters as Shinigami chopped them. As such, his asking caught her off-guard, and she let out a small yelp before realizing that it was what sounded like a human voice.

"Y-y-y-y-y-yes." she said, her voice almost incoherent from her frightened stammering. "A-a-are those m-monsters g-g-gone?"

How awkward. He wasn't sure he could remember hearing a voice that terrified. It had been quite some time.

"Quite gone~!" Shinigami said with reassuring certainty. If anything else decided to show up, he could deal with it. It wasn't cause for concern. The figure bent down on a strange angle to closely peer at the defense formation. "You can come out now."

Miranda hesitated ever so slightly before replying with an "O-O-Okay." She wasn't quite sure that the monsters were totally gone, but this man sounded reliable enough. She slid the black and neon-green disk on her wrist up to her shoulder, and the clocks vanished, revealing her in her kneeling position.

"Th-thank you." she said, starting to get up. "If y-you hadn't come by, I...I don't even know what-"
