Haku rushed past everything, his quick eyes moving across everything, his hands always at his senbon holsters. As soon as he had heard about the monsters, he had taken to the streets; someone was bound to be in trouble, and he was willing to help anyone who needed it.
Like the wolf (or dog? He couldn't tell correctly from this distance) that was surrounded by monsters. It may have been just a canine, but it was in trouble, and he was willing to give it.
Moving forwards quickly, his hands grasped eight senbon in his hands. With a battle cry, he hurled all eight at some of the monsters. The odd, inhuman yells as the needles sank into their flesh told him they were injured. And going to pay attention to him now. He glanced over them, one hand at his weapon holsters and the other moving over his face, brushing the bangs out of his eyes. Let them come. He was ready for them.
It was a surprise. Though he had sensed another person, he didn't think they'd stop to help. Nor did he think that sharp metal needles will shower down on the monsters.
He quickly jumped to where the stranger stood, stared at him for a brief second, and turned his full attention to the monsters as well. He had a good feeling that he could handle the monsters with another person fighting alongside him.
Might as well, thank him in his human form. "T-thanks!"
Well, that was unexpected. He hadn't expected the wolf to...transform into a person. For a moment, he glanced at the boy in surprise. Then, his face smoothed into an expression that was a mixture of respect, kindness, and steel.
"My pleasure." he said, his eyes moving quickly to the monsters that were now glaring at them both. "But I would suggest we save the pleasantries for later. We have to deal with these things first."
He sighed quietly at the thought of fighting, even though he knew it had to be done. With a small noise of metal being drawn, Haku clutched a senbon in each hand and took up a fighting position.
"You ready?" he asked the boy, holding the senbon tightly in his hands. From the looks of those monsters, they weren't going to stand around for much longer. He mentally readied himself.
Unfortunately, Haku had no time to notice the glance from the wolf; he was too busy with his own fight.
Using his full speed, moving so fast he was barely visible, he approached two of the monsters. He began to spin as fast as a top, and as he did, his senbon repeatedly carved their way through the flesh of the monsters. As he whirled, he darted around the attacks of the beasts with seemingly no effort at all. Soon, the monsters went down.
Finishing with them, his quick gaze darted over the rest of the creatures. The wolf/boy appeared to be handling them quite well, but he had to do his part as well. With a silent plea for forgiveness from the beasts, he zoomed through the rest of them, cutting into their flesh with his sharp needles or kicking some out of the way with strength that you wouldn't expect from a 15-year-old.
Like usual, Haku's mind was focused on the task at hand. His kind heart was, for the moment, encased in ice. He knew he had no choice but to kill these things, and he carried out his attacks with grim and swift
It looked like he was doing fine. His movements were quick and fast and his attacks were powerful and precise. Too bad he had no time to admire.
He began to aim for places that mattered: eyes and legs. When they couldn't see or move, it'd be more easier to take care of them. So as he continued the sequences of jumps, slashes, and bites, dark blood sprayed on the sandy streets.
As the monsters fell one by one, he noticed the worm's tail aiming for him. It was too late - though he had dodged it (by inches), the impact sent him flying.
He was in the middle of his attacks against one of the crabs when he heard the sharp sound of the impact. His eye was drawn to the worm and he noticed the wolf flying through the air.
Alarmed, he decided to begin his attacks against the worm. Hurriedly kicking away the crab he had been attacking, he rushed forwards, leaving his two senbon in the worm's flesh and quickly backing up. As he continued to leap away from the worm's attacking tail and hurl senbon at it, he wished he had some water. That would give him a whole new arsenal of attacks to work with.
Oh, well. he thought as the worm's tail whizzed over his head, missing him by millimeters. I can work with this.
At that precise moment, he miscalculated a certain dodge, and the worm's tail slammed into his chest, knocking him backwards a fair distance.
Well, the flight ended unpleasantly when he was slammed against a brick wall. Struggling up with trembling legs, he shook his head to get the dizziness out of his head. His back hurt from the impact but other than that he was okay ... he thinks. That stupid worm ... !
Just as he was about to run back to the giant creature of massive worminess, he saw that human boy flying back. He didn't even need to think. He ran towards him. He bit through the monsters that tried to get Haku when he was momentarily knocked out; he didn't really want to see another human die because of him.
Fighting them alone and protecting him at the same time - it was beginning to be a toil... he sincerely hoped he would wake up soon!
Okay, since when could humans manipulate wind and teleport? This boy wasn't one of the norms that was for sure.
But there wasn't any time to ponder on things like that for long. The worm swung itself around and attacked the spot where the boy and he stood ready. As if planned before, they separated in different directions. Because it had to chase two prey at once, the worm was confused for a brief second.
It was a chance
He barked several times (We have to attack now!) before pouncing on top of the worm and dug his teeth into the pink flesh.
Haku had already picked up on the strategy, and wasn't far behind the wolf. Of course, he didn't bite into it; he brandished the senbon between his fingers like claws, hacking repeatedly into the worm's soft flesh. The screams of the beast were deafening, and it was hard to hold on as it flailed, trying desperately to throw them off, but Haku was tough enough to stay on and keep hacking.
Soon, the worm's struggles got much weaker. They were close to the end.
Kinda gets nasty here ... er, sorry? lolgrannyswolfSeptember 7 2009, 21:44:24 UTC
When the worm's flailing got weaker, Toboe knew it had to be close now. A hunter's intuition if you will. He dug his claws deeper and deeper until he could see the insides and then - ran.
He ran alongside the worm's top and it made a long, gore-ific incision. And little of worm's intestines tumbled out from it, stilling connected with red cords.
But amazing it was still alive. Did he have to get down there and disconnect them? The human boy's metal needles could be really useful now!
S'okay. As of now, I'm guilty of it too.precious_personSeptember 7 2009, 21:52:34 UTC
Haku had to admire the way the wolf unhesitatingly did that to the worm. It was the move of a warrior.
He recognized, as the wolf had, that despite all the wounds they had given it, it was still alive. And he saw the intestines, and knew that it would be up to him to get it done. Moving to where the innards leaked out, he took a deep breath, drew two senbon, and began.
The innards were tougher than he had expected; much more than human, he knew that much. It took about twenty seconds of ripping and pulling before a part of the inside would come apart. As he had the first time he'd learned about the human systems, he had to resist the urge to gag.
But he knew he was on the right track; the worm's already weak struggles were getting weaker and weaker still. So he fought down the urge to pull his crimson-stained hands away and kept going.
Tis fine 'cause you called Toboe a warrior /pride tearsgrannyswolfSeptember 7 2009, 22:17:09 UTC
And within minutes, the worm was dead. Just like that.
Jumping down from now dead monster (And somehow the monsters that were surrounding them fled - the gigantic earth dweller must have been their leader), Toboe strolled over to where the boy was by the shredded body tissues. It was faint but he could sense that he was upset.
He whined slightly at him as if to ask him if he was okay.
Haku noticed as the monsters fled. No need to follow them; there were other people in Somarium who were more than capable of taking care of them. He was breathing heavily; he hadn't fought like that since he'd gotten here. I must be out of practice. he thought wearily. He'd have to start getting back into the habit of training.
When he heard the whine, he glanced over at the wolf. He smiled; it was a tired smile, but it was a smile nontheless. "I'm fine." he assured the canine. "Just tired." As he spoke, he tried to wipe his bloodstained hands off the stone ground. Some of it came off, although he'd probably have to wash them.
And just like that, the boy Toboe is there, looking rather concerned. The blood that had spattered on his fur was now a dry mess that clung uncomfortably to the skin, and although he should be used to it, he subconsciously peeled it off. He should probably go home and wash himself.

Maybe he couldn't work with this.

But before that...
"You're not injured anywhere, are you?"
He should make sure the boy was all right.
