Who: Dist the Rose, Jade Curtiss Where: Government District, Dist's Gorgeous Laboratory Style: Third Status: Closed (But you can send a note if you want in?)
Jade wasn't looking forward to visiting Dist. He especially didn't care for the idea that he would likely have to protect the God-General should the tension with the cannibals reach a breaking point. The opinions of the others for his actions didn't bother him as much as the fact that he disliked having to be placed in such a position.
Things were complicated enough between them without these things forcing Jade to take action.
Upon reaching the laboratory Jade turned on his Dreamberry. "I'm here," he said, broadcasting in video to Dist's Dreamberry. "You can open the front door now."
Dist jumped at the call and looked at his Dreamberry. "...A-ah, yes! Yes, of course!"
He quickly hung up the Dreamberry and hurried over towards the door, his little Somarillows following close behind. He paused only long enough to check his makeup and hair in a nearby reflective surface before hurrying to the front door and opening it with a wide gesture.
Jade ignored Dist's fanfare, though he did wonder how much practice the other man put into the greeting. Instead he simply walked past Dist into the lab proper with his hands in his pockets. He noticed how the place had been cleaned up since his last visit.
What caught his attention the most, however, was the giant metal dragon.
Jade turned to regard Dist. "Your Kaiser Dist SM I presume?"
"Ah?" Dist blinked after Jade as he walked by. He paused and quickly moved after, frowning. He shouldn't have been surprised. Jade was always rude, so why would this be any different?
However, at Jade's question, Dist immediately perked up and grinned slyly. "Why, yes. Impressive, is it not~?"
"I see you went with a drastically different design," Jade said. He looked back at Dist. He noticed the other man forgot to close and lock the door, but that wasn't unexpected. Dist was easily distracted, even in potentially dangerous situations.
"Why, yes! Yes, I did~!" Dist said as he grinned slyly, crossing his arms as he posed rather haughtily. It was obvious that Jade was impressed by his marvelous design. How could he not be? "How observant of you to notice."
Jade ignored Dist's posturing and focused on the fon machine again. It seemed about ready for activation, but he didn't know enough about fontech to be sure. "When will it be finished?"
Dist's expression immediately soured. Leave it to Jade to get right to the sore spot! "...Soon. But in the meantime, isn't it pure genius~? I'm sure no one will doubt my gorgeousness once they've gazed upon my brilliant Kaiser Dist SM!"
"I'm more concerned about whether it can be an adequate form of self-defense," Jade said. He could have added extra emphasis to that last part, but he doubted Dist would notice even if he had. "Not to mention the security of your laboratory."
Dist's cheek twitched as his cocky smile became strained. "I assure you that when it is operational, it will most certainly provide the ultimate self-defense possible."
"Perhaps, but that seems to imply that until it's finished you have no adequate defense against, say, an angry swordsman or a group of cannibals," Jade said. It seemed quite a challenge to keep Dist's pride from diverting them from the main issue at hand.
Dist hesitated at that. He fidgeted for a moment as he struggled to come up with an adequate response - one that wouldn't make him appear weak. When nothing immediately came to mind, the fontechnician huffed and crossed his arms. "It's your fault! You didn't tell me that you let a rabid swordsman in your gang!"
"I can assure you that Guy isn't usually quite so prone to violence," Jade said as he thought back to Guy's behavior. "It would seem that some issues have appeared during his stay in Somarium." Potentially having a girlfriend, Jade's dream and comments while stopping Guy from killing Dist for the fontechnician's thoughtless comments, and the general nature of Somarium were a few such examples. There were likely other factors that the Colonel was not yet aware of as well.
Jade saw no need to delve into with Dist, nor did he want to. "In any case, there are other threats here that are not associated with either of us."
Tch, there Jade went again, always excusing the bad behavior of others when it came to him. Why would Dist expect anything less from the hateful Necromancer? Why couldn't he just admit that he traveled with psychopaths?
...Whatever, he wasn't in the mood to argue with Jade.
"Whatever the case may be, I'm sure that my Kaiser Dist SM can take care of them," Dist said, dismissively. He paused, then considered something - perhaps there was a way Jade could help. "...What colors do you like?"
The seemingly random change in conversation caused Jade's suspicions to grow. Briefly he glanced back at the Kaiser Dist SM and noted that it hadn't been painted yet. Such was to be expected, as people normally waited to make things presentable after the main construction was done. "Why do you ask?"
"M-my, getting defensive already? Is there something wrong with your dearest friend asking you about your favorite colors?" Dist asked as he tried to give Jade a sly smile. "Surely the information isn't that confidential?"
Things were complicated enough between them without these things forcing Jade to take action.
