Chrona did not know how to deal with this.

However, the last time that he had seen her, he was dying in her arms, his mother looming in the background with the intent to kill the both of them. Which couldn't have been good, to say the least.

But he had to find her ( Read more... )

Maka was glad to get out of the house. After that disastrous auction, she was more than a little relieved to have a bit of time to herself. It was a pretty nice day outside, after all, despite her inner turmoil at having Kid constantly want to remodel her apartment--

...Wait, did she hear her name? She blinked, and turned her head towards where she thought she heard the voice come from, and-- no way. Her eyes widen a little bit, mouth falling open in a silent gasp. "Chrona...?" she calls, tentatively. Then, "CHRONA!"

She ran over to Chrona, a smile on her face.

"M-Maka!" he couldn't help but exclaim, because she was safe and okay and that must have meant that she had won, "You're okay!"

He was really grateful, he really was. He would have thanked God had he done that sort of thing.

"Chrona!" She had on a huge smile as she leaned in to hug him. She'd been so worried about him the entire time she's been here; she'd woken up right after the revival of the kishin, after all, and she wasn't sure what had become to Chrona after that.

After a moment though, she pulls back, still smiling. "How long have you been here?" She pauses a moment, and then raises an eyebrow. "...Of course I'm okay. It was you I was worried about."

He smiled too, when she hugged him. He wouldn't have been able to deal with it if it were anyone else. But since it was Maka, it was alright. More than alright, even.

"I... uh... I just woke up here, I don't know," he explained, "But... you were fighting Medusa, and... I thought I was dead, but I guess I'm not, and you're okay, so I'm really happy."

Those words confuse her. "Eh?" she says, giving Chrona a slightly astonished look. "Medusa? But... didn't Stein-hakase kill her?"

Maka's expression turned from astonishment to concern. She almost didn't want to ask the next question, but she had to know. "...Why would you be dead?"

"N-No, she..." How could Maka forget something like this? Did she hit her head? Was she not as okay as she looked? Had Medusa done something to her?

"T-That doesn't matter! Do... you really don't remember, Maka?"

Maka frowned, and shook her head a little. "I remember being under Shibusen. The kishin had just been revived...so you mean Medusa is still alive?" Her expression darkens at that.

Shinigami-sama said before that he'd come a little farther ahead from her and Kid. Maybe Chrona came much farther in the future... but if that was true, then that means something must've happened to him. Chrona certainly didn't seem willing to divulge that bit of information.

"...Oh. I don't know anymore. S-She was then, but I don't know if she is now, but if you can't remember that then.... ughuuuu..." This was even more confusing than before.

It didn't compute for him to have more knowledge about the situation than her. Maybe he had just been hallucinating for months. That would make more sense, anyway.

"I... I don't remember." She furrowed her brow, frustrated with herself. How could she not know what happened? She wished she could, but it seemed as if they'd definitely come from different times. "I remember up to the time when we became friends, and then I went ahead after Asura. Then I woke up here."

"...I thought that happened... a long time ago," he said, almost apologetically, "I don't get why I remember more..."

It was sort of hard putting what he was feeling into words. Although this was somehow his fault, it had to be.

Maka felt like she should be the one apologizing. It wasn't Chrona's fault that she couldn't remember. She felt bad about it, because obviously a lot had happened while she was here.

"Shinigami-sama said that he remembers up until right after Asura's revival," she said. "Maybe you came from farther in the future?"

Well, that was a new idea. Chrona had a hard time viewing himself as a time-traveler, though, because that's sure what it sounded like from what she was saying.

"T-That's... really weird," he finally decided, "But, I guess, if you think so... t-that must be it."

She was quiet for a while, thinking about it. She was still upset with herself, and worried about everyone else from Shibusen, but at least she knew vaguely what was going on.

She looked at Chrona, a tiny smile coming back to her face. "I'm so glad you're okay, Chrona," she said.

He still wasn't sure what was going on, either. But Maka seemed to be okay, and that was all that really mattered. He could deal with everything else so long as that fact remained true.

"I'm really glad you're okay too, Maka," he said, a smile mirroring hers appearing on his face.

"Have you found anywhere to stay, Chrona?" she asked. If Chrona just got here, it might be best if she tried to show him around. There was also the Dreamberry, and the fact that Chrona might not even know where he was yet.

"...No? I don't know really where I am, so..."

Was he supposed to have somewhere to go? This obviously wasn't Death City, though. So he had no idea of the layout of the place.
