While Kid waited for his father to arrive for their meeting, he worried. He was unsure what his father wanted to talk about, but he was certain it must be important; if it couldn't be discussed over the phone, it must be. But then, what could it be that was of such import? Something he hadn't yet divulged about the situation at home, perhaps? There was nothing so pressing here, at least nothing that he could think of- ...or, at least, nothing that his father knew about or needed to involve himself in. The unfortunate matters relating to Maka were... a situation he could deal with himself. Notably, by not dealing with it at all.
He waited in one of Espoir's town squares, and to occupy his mind from such serious matters, took some time to admire a perfectly symmetrical fountain there. Symmetry always cheered him up.
