[ oh wow hey man-- just sees him speaking to his Dreamberry and raises an eyebrow. Shane Walsh, Deputy Sheriff-- got it. also, guns. o k a y. someone just came from a dangerous situation, no doubt. ]

Hey. [ a bit quiet, but definitely there. ] This is the Espoir part of a place called Somarium -- [ and he can get a bit more technical, but he doubts that would be appreciated. ] -- and you can use that phone in your hand to call anyone you need to, as long as they're here.

[ but, now: ] Are you going to be okay?

[He jerks his head up as soon as he heard the voice, readying his rifle before slowly turning to locate where it was coming from. A young man, probably about Glenn's age, wasn't too far in the distance and he didn't look like a walker, was talkin' and all, didn't appear to be bleedin'... but you never know with people these days. For all Shane knows, he could be after the bag of guns like them guys in Atlanta that Rick told everybody about.]

What the hell is Somarium? I ain't never heard of it.

[Shane lowers his rifle after getting a better look at he young man, but he doesn't loosen his grip on it. Can't be lettin' your guard down when you're lost.]

Shit, you tell me. Is this place safe? You seen any walkers?

[ ohhh yeah, definitely new, and definitely from a dangerous situation. he already knows that people are more or less knocked the fuck out pulled from any which way -- no matter what kind of dire place they've found themselves -- so he keeps himself calm, raising a hand to run it through his hair. he remembers explaining this to a few people, but he never will quite get used to it. Yuri and Naoto didn't come with the threat of a shot to the head.

... best not to think about that. instead: ] A dream world, as we've been told. I don't think anyone heard of it before they popped up here.

Walkers... [ he... doesn't know. but it might just be the same kind of thing as Witches, so. ] I'm not quite sure what those are, but- I doubt you're going to find any here, unless you fall asleep here and dream about them.

[In an expression of extreme exasperation, Shane throws one of his arms into the air, almost tossing the phone in his hand down the street in the process.]

Holy shit, man, you gotta be kidding me! A walker... you know, a geek, the risen dead, the undead, whatever the hell you want to call 'em. Everything about them is dead 'cept for their brain stem and they ain't just sick, that's for sure.

[He briefly turns his attention from Suzaku to look around for any sign of walkers]

What you mean by dream world? If I'm suddenly in a dream world then what the hell was I livin' in before? A nightmare? Hell?

I... would imagine not. The dead are just dead; them getting back up doesn't make them anything less than that. [ that just makes them C.C. or V.V. -- or a zombie, as it seems. or a ghost. we don't talk about vengeful ghosts 'round these parts--! ] You won't find any 'Walkers' here.

[ oh geez are you paranoid much??? ]

I mean- that you're sleeping somewhere in your world right now and have been pulled here by something that wants your dream energy. [ and because he might need to hear it: ] Back where you're from, time is... frozen for you.

[Shane takes a moment to stare at Suzaku like he's a fucking idiot before replying. Is he kidding?]

Yeah, they may be dead, they may be able to take a bullet to the fuckin' chest, but they ain't just dead. Yeah, their bodies may be dead, but that brain stem's still goin'. When they tryin' to attack you, to devour you, that ain't just dead. You clearly ain't had to deal with a walker before or you'd be singin' a different tune.

[Look, Suzaku would be paranoid too if he'd just come from the hell Shane had been living in.]

So, if I'm sleeping back in Georgia and it's deep enough for me to end up in this place, I'm as good as dead.

[ also staring at Shane like he's an idiot. ]

They're dead. That's- that's all they are. [ a bit of a downcast, but haunted look here. Lelouch, too, and Shirley, and everyone who's alive right now and shouldn't be. ] I haven't dealt with a walker before- not in my world, and I honestly didn't know it existed until you told me about it. [ thank god. 8| ] I feel I should warn you though, if you're acting like that... Get used to being surprised here. You might see someone from your world that was dead and isn't dead here.

[ he would but right now his paranoia is ludicrous -- but making sense. Suzaku can't imagine going through that. ]

Georgia? [ that... is a place he's never heard of. hm. even so: ] Well - I'm not going to tell you that you aren't because I don't really know. But, I would certainly hope that you weren't as good as dead. [ you're so quick to off yourself, so. he doesn't know. ]

Yeah, they're dead. They're sure as hell dead, but they can still tear your shit up. Seen it happened. Seen some of my group devoured, lost one of 'em, and a couple of 'em turned into walkers themselves.

[Shane shook his head, frustrated beyond belief at the attitude he's being given.]

Look, son, I ain't expectin' to see nobody from my world in this place and, honestly, I expect anybody who is sleepin' so hard they end up in a dream world to actually be dead. No way you can stay alive in a walker infested hell when you ain't sleepin' light.

[He adjusts the bag of guns on his shoulder and gives Suzaku a curious look filled with a bit of hate and a lot of disapproval.]

[ ... still dead, but. ] Alright. I see. [ and then, quiet: ] Sorry.

[ because he doesn't know his situation and -- if he's being really honest with himself -- he doesn't care. this person is a stranger and, if he so wishes, he won't have to see him or his guns ever again. with the way this place works...

it's easy to avoid people. so very, very easy. ]

If that's what you think, then I won't try to change it. You're still going to dream here -- and some of those dreams might be broadcast for everyone to see. [ so hopefully you haven't done anything you're ashamed of... not that Suzaku would hold it over anyone's head, as long as they don't hold his baggage over his.

unless it's Lelouch. but, Lelouch is familiar, and easy enough to grab by the collar and shake and yell at until he caves. bastard, ugh, sometimes Suzaku wishes (Lelouch, come home) that he could forget for a day and be done with it all.

Broadcast? How can other people see my dreams? [He pauses, a bit confused] Ain't no way for people to get in my head like that and I sure as hell ain't gonna tell anybody my dreams, that's some personal stuff.

[Well, Shane has made some mistakes in his life, but nothing he's truly ashamed of. Mistakes are mistakes, right? People gotta get over that and move past it and keep on living and surviving.

He's able to get past the part about the walkers, sort of... It'd take a while because, hell, even Hershel knew what they were (even though he thought they were just sick). But it still bothered him, and bothered him a lot, that this kid didn't know where Georgia was located.]

Hell no, Georgia's part of the United States of America, man. Don't you know anything?

[ exasperated a bit, then: ] Tell me about it. [ ... ah. ] The phone that you were talking into does it - against our will, more often than not. I doubt it cares if it's personal. It's already happened to me once; there's no telling when it'll do it again.

[ that's why he tries and finds trying extremely hard simply because all of the good things that have happened to him were before he killed his father - and, he supposes, those times after with Lelouch and Nunnally were good, too; up until Lelouch and Nunnally (abandoned him- stomping that away) were taken away.

and, if there's such a thing as happiness, he had enough of it while he was Euphy's knight. those times are no more - because he's not starting over once again. ]
