[The coordinates sent by ShinRa's General lead to the dojo in the Arena, in the Residential District. Folding chairs are stationed in neat rows on the spotless floor, all facing the large tables situated at the front of the room.
A few tables along the wall serve as a sideboard, holding food, coffee, juice and other breakfast items for the new arrivals. Everyone is welcome to help themselves and take a seat; Sephiroth himself sits at the front of the room, an entire carafe of coffee plus full mug at his elbow as he writes busily.
When everyone has arrived and the room has quieted down - coincidentally at the stroke of nine am sharp - the General rises from his chair and moves around the table serving as his desk and stands before it, in full uniform regalia. A welcoming nod to the assembled and he begins, baritone easily reaching through the large room.]
Good morning. And thank you for attending. As most of you may know, I am Sephiroth, General of the Elite SOLDIER unit back on my own world. [He gestures to the couldnotfly leaning against the near wall.] This is my associate and second in command, Zack Fair, also from my home world. We have served together for several years and he is a trusted friend. Further, any orders he gives will be the same as if they'd come directly from me.
You are here because you have volunteered your time, abilities and skills for a highly-developed training program designed specifically for those with such qualities. Most of us have been residents of this world "Hypnosia" for some time now, and have seen just how erratic situations can become, with little, if any, warning at all. Your willingness to put your time and effort into this program attests to the most important qualities each of you possess - courage and the will to do more than sit idly by.
What Zack and I are proposing with this program is to take those willing and develop an elite team of individuals, tasked with the protection and defense of this city and the surrounding districts. We will train you in leadership, teach you to work together as a cohesive unit, how to best apply those skills you already possess to the utmost benefit of all, and also develop those abilities and qualities which are not quite honed to perfection.
The program is not an easy one, mind. It will take dedication, hard work, discipline, and trust, from each and every individual on the team. As your commander, I will require nothing less than the very best you have to offer, not only for my safety and yours, but for the safety of your teammates and those citizens we are here to protect.
Zack Fair has a small information sheet for each of you, take a moment and fill it out, please. [The pup begins handing out a clipboard and pencil for each one present.] Be absolutely candid in your responses, the more information we have, the better we can organize the team and utilize the knowledge as best we can. The information is confidential, for our eyes only.
Also, if you know someone whom you might recommend for the program, inform me or have them contact me directly. Membership is not exclusive; anyone willing to serve and can do so without stipulation will be utilized.
[Sephiroth pauses while Zack finishes handing out the clipboards and returns to the front of the room.]
If there are questions, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, once you've finished the questionnaire, the briefing is adjourned. After we review the information you've provided, we will be in contact with everyone to deliver training schedules and arrange demonstrations of the abilities you have provided us. And of course, you may contact either Zack or myself directly if you should have any queries after the meeting.
